Yesterday I watched Murray vs Ferrero Wimbledon 2009 highlights
on youtube. Both guys are typical window wiper forehand, with
reverse forehand when saving balls. You may search it on youtube.
I can't post the link now since I can't visit the website at

His forehand has the same issue. The back swing is slow
which prevents more power. Although his forehand is
more powerful than most people, but it could have been better.

I only watched the third set. What a match!
I think the vitory goes for:
1. She sucessfully brought the match into the third set;
2. receive;
3. forehand.
someone said that her forehand was top 5 in the world. I laughed at it.
But now, I think that statement is reasonable.

You can hit cross court using both forehand and backhand (1 forehand, then
1 backhand), which will train your footwork as well.
You can hit one slice followed by one topspin to create different bounces.
I can't do it well consistently. Too hard.
You can control the location the ball lands on your side. It requires a
good half-court wall though (the wall replaces the net, ideally with
fenses on the other 3 sides). It's not the same as controling the ball
in the real situation but close.

Keep balance, yes. Generate power, can't agree. Pulling back
left arm is in the opposite direction of body rotation.
Theoretically you should swing the left arm to the forehand
direction to generate more power -- just like in the forehand
situation, when you pull the left arm back to help body
rotation.
But in reality, that's too ugly and balance is easily destroyed.
More people would rather have better balance.

Both my forehand and backhand grips are random.
Since I often don't have time to adjust my grips to a perfect
position, I developed the ability to hit forehand using any
grip between continental and semi-western, and hit backhand
using any grip between continental and backhand eastern (no
matter topspin or slice).

"On your forehand, be more deliberate with the stroke.
By that I mean
1) Don't flip the racket around on your take back like you were doing in the
video (the racket is flipped almost backwards on your takeback).
2) Hit the ball in front of you. You were making contact on a lot of
forehands behind you.
3) Use the same follow through every time. I saw a few over the shoulder, a
Nadal-esque wrapping around the head, as well as some in between.

Zan! Admire that you have access to so many good players to play singles

too much topspin. You hit a more traditional forehand (eastern grip??) than
a windshield wiper forehand. It's the placement and depth that you have

You are obviously a very strong 2.5, :-)
A few very small adjustments will improve you to 3.0 and beyond.
Forehand: the key to increase forehand speed is to turn your body more.
Use your left arm to push the racket to the right and stay in that
position while waiting for the ball. i.e., your left arm should point
to right instead of forward. This will force your to turn your body

your forehand is good enough, you do have topspin added in...
you just need to know what is right and that form needs to be fixed with
muscle memory...
when you move, your form is a little lost, so what you need to do is, let
the ball machine toss a sweeping placement from right to left and you
should try to do the same forehand for every stroke...
Of coz, your LG should be able to be the ball machine as well...

Well, with my extreme semi-western forehand (Yoss, not extreme western, how
long you been know me. lol). I usually hit flat only when ball are at least
chest height when it land inside the service box.
One of my advantage for my forehand is hit hard on high bounce ball. I can
flat it out with mass top-spin due to racquet head was in close position.
The technique to flat out the high bounce ball is very simple, close your
racquet head accordingly based on your position and the ball bounce height.

The moment you hit the ball the racquet is nearly perpendicular to the
ground, same as you hit a regular forehand. But then you quickly pull the
racquet up and cross your head. So both reverse or running forehand are
just pure arm-work. Sometimes if you are late enough, it might hurt your

I exercised with a weak 3.5 old guy. He is also slow but he's

No it doesn't. If I can only hit 2 stokes before either me or
my partner making an UE, I will end up wasting most of my time
picking up balls.
For 3.0, simple forehand to forehand or backhand to backhand
drills are much better for improving consistency. Or just

man, if you both are righty or lefy, cross-court hitting is also forehand to
forehand or backhand to backhand, it will improve your consistency a lot
because it is cross-court hitting at most of times in the match. In the
doubles, it is even more critical for the ground strokes.

The above comment shows that your understanding of Federer's game is really
poor. His backhand is definitely his weakness. His forehand is the best in
the business, I didn't even have to say "one of the best". His footwork
combining with his forehand makes him invincible in the groudstrokes. Well,
now he is a bit old and has passed his prime.

3)Running forehand, timing不太对时怎样才能不出界?

Good control in forehand. 3 things that you can do to easily beat your
opponent:
1. Add topspin to your 1st serve. He has no proper technique to attack a
high-bouncing ball and your 1st percentage will go up.
2. Add depth to your backhand. Some topspin will help keep the ball in.
3. Take off some power from your forehand and add spin. You may be able to
hit better angles with your control ability. Since your opponent is
primarily a pusher, you will need patience instead of try to finish a point

Your rally were not planned well, and your shots are too consistant: always
repeat the same pace/height/placement/spin.
When you hit cross court with good depth and pace, he will have to do cross
court to avoid the low percentile down the line. If he can change direction
by his own will, your ground stroke is not at the sme level with his, and
you will have to get him move, either forward or to the wide backhand...
Try to avoid his forehand with crosscourt feeding will be a little helpful...
