DIRECTOR, ANTIBODY DISCOVERY
RuiYi is a newly established biotech company in Shanghai, China, focusing on
discovery and development of novel antibody therapeutics against GPCR
targets. The company’s core technology overcomes previous hurdles of
antibody generation against GPCRs, unlocking this important target class for
the development of highly specific and potent antibody therapeutics.
Joining RuiYi will give the successful candidate the opportunity to be
involved in an exciting biotech startup in the Shanghai area, work with an
internationally recognized team in the GPCR area, a California based biotech
company with a top tier venture funded syndicate, and the Shanghai and
larger China biotech community to address major unmet medical needs with
cutting edge science.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will play a leadership role in the company
including building up an internal team as well as efficiently interacting
with CROs to build a robust pipeline of first or best in class antibody drug
leads to move into IND-enabling studies. Responsibilities will be
establishing and executing on aspects of antibody or antibody fragment
generation and characterization, including antibody library generation,
screening assays, protein expression/purification and antibody engineering
such as humanization, affinity maturation and lead optimization. The
candidate must be able to successfully implement and oversee experimental
procedures related to therapeutic antibody discovery. Willingness to do some
hands on work is required in the initial phase of the company to ensure
highest quality of antibodies moving forward. The candidate will be
responsible of management of multiple projects, and is expected to
contribute to target selection.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• Ph.D. degree with minimum of 8 years of biotech or pharma
experience in antibody discovery and engineering
• Individual with first-hand experience and a successful track
record in antibody library generation, phage display, screening methods and
lead optimization
• Solid knowledge in drug discovery processes and requirements for
antibody lead properties required to move into clinical trials
• Strong results-driven personality with high level of enthusiasm,
energy and confidence
• Excellent analytical, communication, organizational and
presentation skills
• Proven ability to direct small research teams, including
providing sound scientific direction, leading scientific discourse, and
motivating teams |
