from the finance point of view, going to med school will take you roughly 10

your case, roughly even out with the salary of a resident. you will be

Too many variables.
Say the rent goes up $400 in 10 yrs. The yield would be 20%. Home price
goes up 20%. Add a double to the down payment. Trust me. This is the best
time to buy a home. Say home price goes down 25% again. It is actually
great. In 10 yrs, you will save so much money that you can buy 10 of them.
And you can just retire by collecting rents........

unless you're really short of money this year, you should 全换新胎 now -
because you already 明年打算全换新胎的
reason: Let's say you'll graduate in 5 yrs - your new tires can last 50k
miles (normal case), if you drive 10k a year, you can used it 5 yrs, at
which time you should've graduated and will buy new cars.
if you明年全换新胎, when you graduate, you only drive 40k, you only save
that 10K miles for the next guy who'll buy the car.
think about it.- let alone your safety is more important than anything else.

So, you can lease a kia rio @ 9000 apiece for 4 yrs (residual about 35% or
MSRP = 3500) and literally everything is covered by manufacture twice. The
cost would be about 11000. Bingo, Kia Rio is much better than your Camry ..

.... 3 yrs ... still new car?
if you priced right, every car can be sold.
for some make/model, yet it will drop more than 50% from MSRP. Just a
illustration:
Cadillac lease residual is about 40% in 3 yrs.
Many BMWs lease residual is about 50-60% in 3 years and Benz/Volvo are lower.
Will your car price drop more than 50%?

来自主题: Automobile版 - 开了三年的新车能卖掉吗?
ha, that is exactly the point.
BMW is the top choice for lease because of the "high" residual, which is
only about 50-60% after 3 yrs. So, it is likely for some makes/models have
to sell below 50% of MSRP in 3 yrs, which answers LZ's question.

perhaps 23k is a fair price for a 3 yr car. If it is the bare minimum of
328i, it was sold at about 60% msrp, same as/similar to the lease-end
residual. If it comes with lots of options, it can be a great buy.
For cars at that age, you have 1 yr service, plus you may need to change the
tires. So the cost after your that year is pretty high ~2000 - 3000. So
is it still a good deal? I really doubt.
For a brand new '12 car msrp 35800, invoice 33200, if you take european
delivery you will *save... 阅读全帖

not counting interest, tax and insurance:
for comparison:
(1) leasing a 328i, best deal will be about 22% msrp for 3 yrs (36k mi) -- $
220 per month (msrp 34900), maintenance free;
(2) buying a malibu (msrp 23500), best deal will be about 17000 - 17500,
after 5 yrs /8w mi selling for 8000, monthly charge will be $150. add
additional (600 -tire, 90-battery, 250-oil change + 500 tune-up) = $175 per
month.
so, one would expect about 170 - 220 monthly expenses for mid-priced cars.

if 5-6 yrs is your goal, MOST new cars at this level is fine.
I had 08 impala (a car that is not famous for its reliability but for rental
%) for 5 yrs (90k mi), no issues so far (except change battery once, tires
twice, and I broke rear side mirror twice, and numerous oil changes and tire
rotations about every 7k).
trunk size-- larger than huge.
interior size -- comfortably fit 5 (including 2 kids w/ carseats) or very
uncomfortably tightly 6 (front bench seat). You can do anything at 4

5 yr is so short, if you only buy a car and ride for 5 yrs, you are
constantly paying car loans.
10-15 yrs is fair. and when you get a dfbb, it is 90% doable.

my ex-boss, a great man, drives his car for 20 years, I respect people like
that.
one of my friend, buy all car used except one SL55 AMG, and keep all the
cars for 5-15 years already, and his commute car is a 10+ yrs Jetta TDI, he
came to US with nothing, and work in a farm when he was 10 yrs old.
keep the car long sometimes only means the owner knows to appreciate and
cherish what they have.
loser normally don't
