这是第11代卡罗拉，为了吸引更年轻的用户而非维持以往用户，继“Avalon”
及“RAV4”之后，丰田再次采用了个性强烈的外观设计。前脸以较扁的前大灯以及下部
带大开口的保险杠等为特点，并搭配大幅膨出的翼子板以及向后平缓下滑的C柱。
新款卡罗拉的外形尺寸为长4639×宽1776×高1455mm，与上代车型相比车长增

先试驾的2013 S4 S Tronic with rear sports diff:
Sports steering wheel很有手感，flat bottom, 很有赛车的感觉，而且转非90/180/
270/360弯很顺手。Sports seat过弯时很secure, 但似乎有点儿太bucket了，刚开始试
车的时候，还没放开来跑，感觉有点儿挡事儿，但一旦开始push车，aggressive过弯，
这个感觉就消失了。 这个transition在335i和C350上都没有。但也有可能是我不经常
开sports seat的车，一开始不习惯，开S4半小时习惯了，所以在335i和C350里面就再
没这个感觉了。2013 S4换成了Electric steering：parking lot speed steering很轻
，随着速度增加，steering越来越重。由于老婆的Q5也是这样的，所以我已经习惯了一

了一段时间后声音越来越大
先去一家车铺查的，直接告诉我engine或者transmission有问题，我可以肯定不是这两
个的问题。
后来找到这家，信誉不错。试开了一下就能说出个子丑寅卯了，所以觉得技术还是不错
的。开始做inspection的时候，查出both front wheel bearing have play, both
front wheel inner and outer tie rods have play, entire steering rack loose
due to backed out bolts, front rotors are completely warped due bearing play
, possible leak in steering rack.
总共要$1100
他提到过steering rack的问题，但是后来说问题不大，不换也可以。而且说主要是
bearing的问题。因为车到9w mile了，一直没做大维护，所以借这个机会换了

常在汽车版块潜水，知识贴，广告帖，打架贴，经验帖，都让我受益匪浅，感谢大家好
帖。到oil change工作3个多月，阅车无数，今天给大家汇报下，我们眼里车子的质量
，也算是回馈论坛。
我们全家是91技术移民，在国内大学里教书，到了这边才发现，给新移民的语言课，除
了领教世界各地版本的英语发音，几乎是浪费时间。听老移民的建议，直接找工作。上
网一搜，一没语言，二不能独立开车，三文凭工作经历不被承认，只有找labour。最后
看到这家Oil Change店在招人，大着胆子和老板吹牛，在国内上过一个星期汽修班，开
车30小时，汽车技术书读过几本。竟然被录用了。
开始培训。脏，累，危险，最低工资。头一个月，每天手上胳膊上带着伤，精疲力尽回
家，老板还是嫌你干得慢。资本家的钱不好挣啊，呵呵。
好了言归正传，说说我的工作内容，和对经手的车子的印象（待续）

就注册去上课了，发现价格已经改了，是$19，
不过用promotion code (X2B-C8B-A94) 依然可以减少$2。
现在已经不能只是开着电脑耗时间了，我试着开机，但出去了3-4个小时，回来就要求
重新log in了。而且也不能直接参加final exam，必须答对各章的所有试题才能到达
final exam，而且各章的题目之后还有一题“security question”，就是问关于前面
学习材料中的图片、录像中的内容，所以还不得不点击看看，总共也需要不少时间。不
过有个节约时间的方法，就是先到问题的一页，看完问题再点击“previous”回到前一
页寻找答案，利用IE的“编辑”菜单下“查找（在当前页）”的功能可以快速定位。如
果中途log off再回来log in，得一页页翻过之前做过的章节，不过不需要重新做题就
是。到达上次退出地方，就自动加载之前这一章的内容。

发帖数: 371 | 33 本人的小破车是03年的Nissan Altima。开着还不错，就是有一个小毛病，往外慢慢的
渗动力转向油(power steering fluid)。 每三个月到半年，不定期的就要加一次，否
则打方向的时候就会发出吱吱的响声。以前不知道是这个毛病，都是去修车铺找师傅帮
忙看看。师傅检查以后加点油就好了。去了几次，发现原来是这个小问题，就决定以后
自己动手。因此，上一次师傅加油的时候，就在边上留意观察了一下。还用手机把油瓶
子照下来了（他用的是变速箱润滑油 transmission fluid）。几天前，车又响了，于
是按图索骥的买了变速箱润滑油。回到家，正准备加的时候，发现汽车那个小壶的盖子
上写着power steering fluid。以为自己记错了加油的地方，于是就没敢加。打电话给
修车铺的师傅，他说就是加到power steering fluid那个壶里，而且他用的就是
transmission fluid。他的原话是“transmission fluid要好一些”。也问过一个国内

its steer-by-wire system. The recall concerns Q50 sedans equipped with
Direct Adaptive Steering that have received a software version which may
disable the power steering software when the engine compartment reaches
freezing temperatures. There's a mechanical backup system to prevent
steering failure that kicks in via a clutch if the Direct Adaptive Steering

year 2014 FJ Cruiser vehicles manufactured August 7, 2013, to August 20,

照合同所述，如发生power steering pump的故障应由保险公司负责。两星期前发现power
steering system 漏油，送去修车厂发现leaking oil from the seal of the power
steering pump. Dealer 那边建议我更换整个power steering pump (现正争取他们能够
写一份书面的statement)。但打电话给保险公司的时候，对方声称因不能确定是power
steering pump的问题，所以现在只是seal漏,要我reseal the
pump，因为合同上说明"All seals and gaskets are covered when required in
conjunction with the replacement of a covered component.", 而现在他们认为power
steering pump没有坏,所以他们不承担resealing pump的任何费用。

发帖数: 3419 | 47 S4的steering ratio是15.9:1 , 偏慢，不过每个人口味不一样，你可以仔细体会一下
看是否需要加dynamic steering. 而且S4的dynamic steering比较温和，比335的
active steering好，335的相对激进，有点不自然。不过335的steering本身就快一些
，是14.5:1, 2.7-turn. S4加dynamic steering的话可以降到2.2-turn. |

,所以在犹豫是不是要把车送到dealer那里查power steering, 好像一查就得好几十的
inspection fee. power steering 一般的repair shop可以handle吗?另外dealer那边
不知道有没有可能免费fix 这个power steering, 因为这次recall就是针对power
steering failure (不过是针对GM compact car). |

刚刚收到他们估计，说是around 2k，大家看看是否合理？我看他车检labor是$49/hr,
如果是这样的话，那他们parts黑得太厉害了。Power steering pump，AAP也就卖$76,
还有30的core charge可以退。Rockauto上面最贵的也就两百吧。
现在我的问题是，有没有必要再跑去sunoco那个韩国人那里做一遍？
今天刚好要去Columbia那边，于是约了一家city-data上面老外们推荐做车检的车行叫D
obbin Auto Repair，说是很honest不会乱搞。我的车子是01年140k的老车。
结果被无情的fail了，毛病大概有一半是suspension吧，另外一半是power steering和
