powerful emotions and he knows how to express them in powerful imagery.Maybe
you cannot appreciate it because your heart is dulled by materialistic
concerns?
Your criticism is somewhat biased, Haizi's poems are not always beautiful,
some of it is about pain and a lot of it about suffering. It is exactly this
tense between ideal and reality that holds tension in his poems.

just one small thing. If a poet is a poet for his soul is, then we should
always remember, it is such a difficult and delicate job to judge one's soul
. So one can't simply decide those who write a few verses in love ofpoetry
are NOT poets. Who knows,
maybe only god, or muse could finally judge. Besides, one can always choose
to be, or CONVERT oneself to such a 'conviction'

you pointed out, a poet, or not, is an arguable label, for there is no God-
approved definition. However, one can write a poem, even without being a '
poet'. It is only on the bases of writing poems that real poets can be found.

values, beliefs, besides passion. Yeats called it a 'conviction'.
Greatest poems are always containing greatest thoughts, not simply passion.
hehe. But you are right in that it is perhaps most convenient, comparing to
other forms of literature, to use poetry to express passion. Because poetry
can be short and discrete, or in other words, the form can be most free.

peacefulness after the pain reached the extreme and started resigning. Only
that moment, you felt that no pain could cease you, and light could go through
you. This pain could be physically or emotionally caused.

献给在我深爱的母校度过的日日夜夜
1998年，我怀着文青梦，心心念念要考某大陆名校的英语语言文学系（原来打算考历史
系和文科基地班，老师父母劝阻，理由是将来就业会成问题，遂放弃），也考进了，十
年后还留在系里，求到份教职。十五年过去，山山水水看得渐渐清晰。
要交待一句，我在同一家大学的英文系，从本科念到博士，成绩始终不好不坏。留校后
，职业发展则是同辈中比较落后的。所以，体制内，我不能算既得利益派，心怀怨望，
发发牢骚很正常。而且，我素来偏激，年纪不小，依旧出言轻狂。尊敬的读者请务必注
意：在主流价值日渐遭 到怀疑的时代，牢骚、轻狂不一定是对的，需要批评看待。
本学期开学时，开明的领导组织我们开会，畅议教学改革的方向与步骤，当时我有一点
粗浅的想法。加之最近因为教学与两位师长发生小小误会，有所触动。所以，趁周末，

booker prize winner. i'd say it is less clever than "the hours", but is at
the same level with "atonement". each or almost each chapter starts with a
long victorian poem that i skipped. the author was trained as english
literature phd then a lecturer and critic so some part of the novel gets like
critic analysis and scholarly research. she made up all those long poems and
letters based on browning and rosseti's styl |

老美很喜欢POEM,闺女1年纪的时候老师还有专门POEM FOLDER,就是读诗歌
跟歪歪这种差不多
基本就是话还没说利落呢咱就是诗人了 |
