yes i understand your question. xentar answered it, let me rephrase: for
built-in types, (a=b)=c is legitimate (from syntax point of view. it is
undefined though), so overloaded operators mimic it. why (a=b)=c is
legitimate from the beginning? because it is legitimate in C.

i dunno what's your reasonable expectation, but for C users, a=b=c means a=(
b=c), and that's the usual chain assignment. of course (a=b)=c is unusual,
and shouldn't be used because it's undefined for built-in types anyway. for
mimicing built-in type's purpose, it shouldn't be used for class either. no
one said it's a good design.

yes you can declare like this. then (a=b)=c will fail to compile. but some p
pl think overloaded operators should mimic built-in type, which includes (a=
b)=c. in fact, as a convention, all STL class returns (non-const) reference
to *this in assignment operator. scott meyers mentioned this in ++>.

geohash是给没有spatial data structure的检索系统用的
比如说你只能用一个全文本的搜索引擎,geohash可以用来mimic spatial indexing
你可以把event wx4g0ec1 用所有的prefixes(w, wx, wx4...)索引
这样对任何一级的搜索都能找到
但是如果你自己build一个搜索系统,没有必要用geohash
geohash就是一个很蹩脚的quadtree(essentially a trie), 并不efficient,
应该直接上spatial data structure.
一般来说r-tree is the best.

The reason people are interested in RGD peptide is because it mimics the
extracellular matrix and binds to the integrins, I believe.
I actually don't really care what kind of peptide it is. However I am kind
of planning to do some pilot experiments by myself and I prefer to use

Those are very general questions.
For stem cells/progenitors, self-renewal and proliferation are two distinct
events, although many people don't separate these two when talking about
behavior of stem cells/progenitors. If you ask about proliferation of stem
cells, it seems pretty much similar pathways also regulate tumorgenesis. To
be more specific, differentiation of stem cells/progenitors also mimics EMT,

uron是会表现出phenotype的(就是死掉了 两个例子 ALS和rett syndrome的IPS) 不
一定真
的需要多么复杂的体内环境才能表现出来。而且你也可以试图stress这些cultured neu
ron,然后只要他们死的和WT neuron不一样这个差别也可以用来screen gene/drug了
其次你还可以直接把这些iPS打到动物体内去让他们在正确的位置分化成neuron,这样可
以更好的mimic疾病环境。换句话说就是构建一个携带人源疾病组织的动物模型 这个现
在用iPS的lab很多在试。
这两个无论哪一个都比之前的animal model好得多得多。

and besides, aptamer is too flexible, can frequently undergo structure
change in response to target or non-preferential target..there are several
papers talking about these issues.
Pegaptanib is a successful example of aptamer used as a drug...

1) I don't know. There is no solid data about cell phone radiation's
physiologic affect.
2) I don't know either.
I guess the simple experiment is to give cultured cell line radiation (mimic
those of cell phone) for months or longer and see any effect. I guess some
people did it but did not find anything interesting.
epi is not the only thing we can look at, but currently epi data is the data
we can have. No mechanistic research. On the other hand, for smoking,

大家从哪里看到实验室不错了,难道是因为赏了一口饭吃?
这个博后的工资,小硕毕业随便找个工作也能拿到,餐馆洗碗工也不会比这个少。
我辛辛苦苦周末加班没有休息日,熬更守夜看文献自己想idea,那还不是想做出个结果
,发篇文章,谋个前程?遇到难题担的只有自己,轮到出成果的时候,就找个不相关的
人来捡现成,把我顶开。这样子大家居然觉得是正常的?那什么是正常的科学伦理观?
还有的人说压两年,不管压多久,如果没有横插一杠这样的事情,我根本不会抱怨。如
果外面有同样的课题组发了,完全独立的,那损失是我的也是老板的,我没有怨言;但
是现在的状况是,我已经做完,另一个人是典型的喜欢抢发,但老板让它在我就自己的
工作做过无数次lab meeting的情况下来重复。做原创性的工作多难,mimic 一下有多
简单,大家应该都知道。老板不作为,损失就是我自己的。
我没有指望老板来写或者来帮忙发,但是发表的时候总得有他的同意啊;我也参加了些
meeting。但是这些都没有用。我纠结的是为什么他即使不能一碗水端平,是不是也要
保证我这个主要投入的工作没有如此的恶性竞争。

也就提供了部门机制。同时可以从另一个方向看这个蛋白敲除是否mimic某种疾病表型

1) pulse chase (fluore or isotope) or CHX treatment or SNAP tag with or
without over-expression of E (or knock-down)
2) Phospho versus dephospho mimic mutation; If the sites are not clear, try
to look for phospho change by over-expression of E (or knock-down)
3) specific inhibitors

If the phosphorylation event is for disruption of an otherwise interactions,
YtoE works. However, if the phosphorylation event is to recruit a SH2 or
PTB containing binding partner, most likely this substitution will not work.
Of course, there are other scenarios this should or should not work.

Amgen 公司试图开发的单抗药物宣布失败。该药品是抗 type 1 insulin-like growth
factor receptor,在细胞和动物模型中有理想的效果。而且,在动物
和细胞模型里面过表达IGF-1会导致癌细胞行为并能被该抗体抑制。
但是在phase III clinical trial中得到的数据表明该药物对病人身上的
多种癌症都没有疗效。
其他类似的单抗药物目前看来效果也不理想,研究者们认为大部分癌症(尤其是固体瘤
)的机理比较复杂,用单一靶点可能是很难抑制癌症的。而且在初期研究中使用的癌症
模型也不能被视为是真正的癌症例子。
另外几个公司目前在试图把 IGF-1R 和 insulin receptor一起阻断,看看能不能得到
更好的效果。
