The Academy of American Poets于1996年

As Roman imperial authority effectively ended in the West during the 5th
century, Western Europe entered the Middle Ages with great difficulties that
affected the continent's intellectual production dramatically. Most
classical scientific treatises of classical antiquity written in Greek were
unavailable, leaving only simplified summaries and compilations. Nonetheless
, Roman and early medieval scientific texts were read and...

Some noticable passages:
Christianity has taught monotheism from its foundation, the belief in the
existence of one God. Mormonism believes in the existence of a plurality of
gods. According to Mormonism, there are an infinite number of planets like
earth in the universe, each with their god or gods who were once men who
have evolved into godhood. Mormon theologian and Apostle Bruce McConkie
states, "[A] plurality of gods exist . . . there i...

Definition: (a) I seize tight hold of, arrest, catch, capture, appropriate,
(b) I overtake, (c) mid. aor: I perceived, comprehended.

The story will reveal the glory described in these opening verses, but it
will be a tragic story of conflict, because humanity is in the darkness of
rebellion. The shining of the light is an ongoing, continuous activity (
phainei, present tense, v. 5), for it is the very nature of light to shine.
But when that light and life came amongst us as a human being, the darkness
did not grasp, or master, the light; it neither comprehended it nor overcame

What I see in Nature is a magnificent structure that we can comprehend only
very imperfectly, and that must fill a thinking person with a feeling of “
humility.” This is a genuinely religious feeling that has nothing to do
with mysticism.
It seems to me that the idea of a personal God is an anthropological concept
which I cannot take seriously. I also cannot imagine some will or goal
outside the human sphere. … Science has been charged with undermining
morality, but the charge is unjust. A man’s...
