I have an NSF proposal which has been pending for 10 months since last July.
Nothing has been changed since submission. What may have happened to this
proposal?
Is it possible that a novel idea may sound too risky to NSF?
Is it possible that NSF just let it pending there until NSF can get some
assurance on the success, or until the proposer withdraws it voluntarily?
Can anyone share some experience and the final outcome on the long-pending
NSF proposals?

It is time to contact PM right now. It is possible that PM is waiting to see
if she/he has some money left or can get additional money in this fiscal
year (ending Oct.) to support your project.
