level for most grant is at 180k-190k for NIGMS last year. If you got
higher, it means you didn't get cut last year. |

grant? Other than annual report due next month for me, I haven't receive
any other email from NIH.

的课题也一样。提醒我们在申请标书时尽量在可能的范围内多做些预算。据说今年和明
年NIH的经费情况有所好转。

don't get to go over. I know several big bull try to do non-modular budget
, all of their grants got revised down and literally were told either take
the cut or go away. Some of the old NIH grants got cut because everyone got
cut, but I have seen people with the same budget year over year.
The progress report don't even let me enter a new budget to ask for more
money.

budget who I know (a chairperson pretty big-bull), the NIH literally told
the person to cut one of the aims, and NIH will fund the grant at modular
budget level.
I know large project grant is not modular but the budget justification is
very specific. I was on one. I also know a P grant from Harvard got cut
from 1.5 million to 300k.

我们平常见的这种non-solicited, self-initiated 的R01 grant， 的确是没有啥原因
就不能乱要钱的，连做老鼠的人，一般也就是乖乖的要个modular。除非要做人或者做
猴子的，才敢小心翼翼的多要一点。不过，我以前好像听说过一个说法是我们这种self
-initiated 的R01 grant其实不是NIH支出的大头。所以可能他说“大部分grant 不用
modular budget”可能是指那些其他grant吧？但是在我的印象中那些“其他grant”一
般都有比较浓厚的政治意味，不是我们一般人够得着的。

发帖数: 62 | 12 If the direct cost equals less than $250,000 PER BUDGET YEAR, the modular
budget is used regardless the funding mechanism. In other words, if the
direct cost is more than $250,000 for any budget year, a detailed budget (
non-modular) is used. That is reason a detailed budget (non-modular) is used
in the majority of R01 applications for most population-based studies (not
lab-based studies). Most population-based studies incur more budgets than

Therefore, the use of modular budget is determined by whether or not your
budget is less than $250,000 for ANY budget year.

noncompetitive renewal NIGMS一般cut 10%. 等到budget通过了好像会restore一些。
我印象中前几年都是先cut 10% (fund 90%), 等到budget通过了再restore到99%, 相当
于1%的cut.
