这段话我也是反反复复的读，因为我实在不明白啥叫CHARACTER。
中文翻译是：患难生忍耐，忍耐生老练，老练生盼望。
不过，我不太满意这个翻译。总觉得不到位。
我时常看到有人说，A MAN WITH CHARACTER。在时尚杂志中，甚至看到 A GIRL WITH
CHARACTER。但我就是不太理解到底啥意思。好像是指有个性/性格的人，但又觉得不到
位。
我甚至去翻阅了韦氏大字典，还是不明白。
现在，我想我也许明白多一点了，但仍然找不到一个合适的对应的词。
另外，相当喜欢PERSEVERANCE这个词。我觉得翻译成忍耐不到位，觉得百折不挠更好。
但是，正如我前一篇里提到，整个BIBLE我感觉都不强调突出个人主观能动性的，百折

父亲节准确地说应该叫“贺曼节”。它其实是贺曼明信片公司和其他公司为了赚钱，用
父爱做幌子假设出来的一天而已。父亲节没有什么不好，但是在我看来，每天都应该是
父亲节，因为，无论你是否喜欢与否，我们每一个人都有自己的父亲。就我而言，我过
去喜欢过父亲节，现在依然喜欢这个特殊的节日。
我的父亲曾经伴随着我成长。我们彼此还算了解，但是了解得还不够深。在我很小
的时候，父亲回到中国开始创业，追求他自己的梦想。对于我来说，我很难接受这个事
实。起先，我以为时间不会太长，也没有那么复杂，父亲只是暂时离开我，过几年之后
他就会永远地回到我的身边。我的想法不对吗？但是我错了，迄今为止，我的父亲仍然
还在中国。
现在，我已经很适应他不在我身边的生活，对未来也不用担心。但是有父亲陪伴在
家的感觉，我再也体会不到了，这件事非常困扰我。事实上，我错过了父亲陪伴我成长
，以及从父亲那里得着教诲的好时光。在那些艰难的日子里，不仅仅是我陷入痛苦之中

如果两者选一，你想要自己的小孩一个“成功”但不happy的人生，还是一个happy但不
“成功”的人生？
你希望小孩成功，是因为爱小孩，还是因为自私的想要小孩成功以后回报自己?包括得
到别人的羡慕满足自己的虚荣心？
成功（successful)个人有个人的定义。大体而言，我发现华人认为成功，要么发大财
，要么做大官，要么学术有成（比如诺奖）。这三者都得兼的概率基本上是0，至少目
前世界上也没有一个，因为不兼容。如果要发大财，那么中国比美国容易，而发大财跟
高智商基本上没有一毛钱的关系。实际上，智商越高，赚钱越难，也越不看重钱。CEO
的平均智商比普通员工高，但不能高太多，否则没有共同语言，发表演说无法产生共鸣
。做大官，作为华人二代在美国的概率也目前近乎为零，跟高智商更是一分钱的关系都
没有。学术有成跟高智商的关系最大，估计也是大多数华人父母看重的。大家也知道亿
万富翁诺奖对绝大多数华人不管几代而言都是遥不可及的事，所以只要小孩爬个藤，拿

我的绿卡之路才刚开始。以99年8月来美留学算起，这应是很慢的了。05年8月到这分公
司，开始总公司HR一直不愿意给我办H1B，直拖到06年10月1日我才拿到，害得我OPT结
束后费尽心思注册学校，弄到两个CPT来继续上班直到拿到H1B。
07年初就缠着我的经理办绿卡。她到分公司VP和CEO那里去游说。大约07年中得到分公
司批准。9月总公司HR让我给了简历说是用于启动我的绿卡案子。10月我闹了个跳槽风
波，但接受了公司的match留下来了。公司办绿卡，优点是公费，缺点是自己使不上劲。
下午（08年3月26日）经理说我的绿卡广告引来了“quite a few”申请简历。HR要她找
些技术问题和答案以便电话过滤申请人。经理不懂技术，我便写了五页的简短问题和答
案及一张Visio做的图表明工作需要的知识面和各部分的比重。4月1日经理出差回来，

photographs aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.” He was talking
about getting in amongst the action. If you feel like your images aren’t ‘
popping’, take a step or two closer to your subject. Fill the frame with
your subject and see how much better your photo will look without so much
wasted space. The closer you are to the subject, the better you can see

天主教认为一个人信了耶稣、又受了洗，只能叫他进入「恩典状态」中，有资格接受「
圣礼」，藉以取得更多「恩典」和「功德」，赎去他盈余的罪，才可以得救上天堂。为
此、每一个天主教徒尽一生努力去领圣体、告解、念经、求圣人……，或借着行善、苦
行……，为要得到足够的「功德」，补赎自己盈余的罪，不然、他就要落到炼狱里受苦
，直到盈余的罪都赎尽了为止。但是，谁知道自己还欠多少功德呢？所以没有一个天主
教徒有把握得救的。为此、马丁路德借着圣经，恢复「因信称义」的真理；加尔文也借
着圣经，恢复「一次得救，永远得救」的真理。可惜他们的生命不长，不能继续研究圣
经，全面恢复圣经的真理。所以马丁路得的信义宗教会，和加尔文的长老会，在神学思
想上仍有一些欠缺，未能完善。

OCEF的发展一直和国内的教育政策紧密相连。最开始在我们心中种下助学种子的是希望
工程，但身居海外的中国留学生没有参加的渠道，从而催生了OCEF的前身中国教育救援
基金会（SOS China Education Fund）。二十多年前，我们刚刚踏出国门。当时的中国
有很多贫困落后的地方，还有很多孩子因为交不起学费而上不了学。二十年来，中国经
济发展地很快。自2005开始，由于政府“两免一补”（“免杂费、免书本费、逐步补助
寄宿生生活费”）的不断落实，把农村的教育提升到了一个新的台阶，“上不起学”的
问题已在很大程度上得到改善。OCEF的发展方向也由此发生了转变。以前，我们都是以
帮助小学生、初中生，发放学费为主。“ 两免一补”逐渐实施以后，我们减少小学、
初中生的资助规模，同时充分利用我们现有的项目资源为孩子们提供“一揽子”的教育

指所有人类都已经被罪污染。罪已经污染了人的每一个层面，人的理性、感情、意志、
