I heard some "rumors" that NSF panelists at many theory-related programs
such as math/physics/geology etc are very nice and they often give "
excellent" rating, if they give "very good", it means "not so good". However
, in CISE program, if it is rated as "very good" or above (i.e., "excellent"
), it means it is a truly "outstanding" proposal. Let me say this, if a
proposal can get one or two "excellent" in CISE division, most likely it

campus interview, others already chose the campus visiting candidates.
Last week our department just finished phone interview, my impression is if
they said they will start to review, they will try to follow the time line.
Usually if pass the dealine one month without any update, just move on! They
won't send out rejection until they make their final decision. |

try to follow the time line. It is not very common to set up a dealine and
wait for couple months to start screening, unless there is something wrong,
such as funding, it happened a lot last year.

中国的大学做门面的。用68个期刊的发表情况来排名，真正的Nature子刊是其中很小的
一部分。一个化学系或物理系在chemical communications or applied physics
letters发表很多文章就可以排得很高，哪怕一片Nature子刊都没有。这个排名忒糊弄
了...弄得很多国内高校吹嘘自己超过MIT,加州理工。

1. Is 10 yr considered long term? Maybe to stock traders or people who want
to make a quick buck. To retirement investors, we are talking about 20-40
years. If you aim for 5-10 years, you should keep stock exposure minimum to
none. Just look at Japan or US 2000-2010.
2. Don't invest in just one fund/etf/index. Spread your money among
different asset classes and across all geological markets.

Keywords:
背景是(MATH,CEE,GEO,ME,CE,CS)都可以，但是倾向于CEE，HYDROGEOLOGY， GEOLOGY的
同学。
Immediate opening: 工作很紧，急着招人。
Intern: 从Intern做起,适合有OPT,待字闺中,可以立刻开始做的同学。PAY在20~30块/
小时之间，根据背景决定。之所以不能做能PERMINANT POSITION是因为有一个
CANDIDATE PENDING，但是我们急需用人。如果表现好的话，有转成PERMANENT的可能，
办H1-B或者其他的都不成问题。上一个INTERN就是这么转了的。请别疑心我们是在找
CHEAP LABOR，用完了一脚踢开。我们也希望INTERN可以至少做2个月以上。
ARCGIS： 最好会用GIS

的一个小镇上。本地还有另一家公司正在面试，已经面了4轮，还没结果。
