recommendation。从search committee推荐到开始negotiation，时间短的可能只有几
天，长的可以有一个月以上，别心急。Bless. |

我们这里的风格就是总要给你找点毛病显得PT committee高瞻远瞩。不可能全说好的。
比如我今年拿一米的钱，committee说你丫确实牛逼，但是建议我要从不同的agencies
拿钱，不能总撸老相好。
我觉得，只要最后的意见是recommend就行。他给出的只是建议，而不是指出缺陷。 |

review。一般是重点讨论borderline的情况，既然recruiter告诉你是borderline，也许也是希望你
有心理准备，希望告诉你这offer还不是certainty。
另外，不同office的hiring committee的尺度，肯定是有差别的，有的office，local推荐上去的几
乎全部通过，有的office推荐上去的可能被砍掉很多。NYC不清楚，不过如果你面SEA/KIR的话可能会好
些
不过既然你都到这个OC review了，说不定没拿offer也是好事，FB最近挺火，说不定是塞翁失马 |

HC主要看你的面试下来的技术能力和你要求的title职位
EC要关注你的包裹
VP算个把关 有点类似老板娘最后把关的意思
后面两关也有监督HR防止HR为了招人拿performance，随便给包裹给title的问题。
对于没有要求大包裹的，被VP reject真的是九牛一毛的比例。。。
不是针对Google，大部分tech公司最后被大领导reject的原因都差不多归到下面四个
1. 包裹比较大，title比较高。面试表现和background无法说服EC或者VP。这个最常见
。常见于跳槽人士。OR 非CS phd但是按照phd hire的。
2. HC过得勉强，靠HR做红娘找到了manager 收留你才过的。但是这个manager的面子不
够大。VP看到了case还是觉得并不enough。常见于转行，没有SWE经验的，或者 刚毕业
entry level的。
3. 你的某个special skill助你通过HC。最后关头，VP作为管理层认为并不这么缺少这

最初，federal需要减少2.2 trillion的赤字，其中1 trillion的spending cut已经落
实了，现在需要讨论剩下的1.2 trillion spending cut，于是整了个12人的supper
committee来讨论具体如何落实，其中有些提案涉及到要砍GME的钱，因此有了前几天的
那个帖子号召大家给议员写信保护GME funding。如今这个supper committee没有能在
deadline之前给出一个具体的计划，因此across-the-board cuts将于2013年自动启动
。这个across-the-board cuts类似于将包括国防在内的所有spending地毯式地cut，但
据说medicare（GME funding的来源）的cut不会超过2％，而且“the cuts to
Medicare are limited to hospitals and other medical providers and would not

导师一：学术水平很好，大概两年一篇AER， 每年都有一两篇JPE档次的文章，但好像从
来没有和学生合作的paper。人也很nice, 作为committee chair肯定可以给很多不错建议
， 但估计也会较tough.
导师二，在本学术领域及本地关系都很广 ，曾离校担任过州政府高职，项目及经费很充
足 （不过好像跟我没什么关系，呵呵），以往学生placement 好象很好。人也很nice,
对学生要求不高，但根据经验，对学术指导也不大（一方面学术水平不是很高，另外也太
多人选他做chair 了，忙不过来）， 从另一方面看，估计论文也容易过。
想做的方向跟两位导师都有关，还没知道会根谁的联系更密切。
BTW, 我不是经济系，不过相关。不是top program.
