去visit的一个学校，从其他candidates那边知道，我的meeting比他们少很多，当时就
让我感觉，其实我是在他们backup list上。这样，我发挥的机会也少，感觉不公平。
我不知道这个学校这样的做法，是否professional）
3) 还有一个比较具体的问题。一般都说国外的学校招人不会考虑性别、年龄、家庭情
况等因素。我发现，初步面试（会议、电话面试）的时候是这样，但到了on site，其
实都会有意无意的问到结婚与否，配偶做何工作，是否有小孩了。不知道search
committee最终决定的时候，这些因素是否会有所影响呢？ |

一是如何称呼，个人以为知道名字最好称名字，也即， Dear Professor/Dr Smith >
Dear Search Committee> Dear Professor. 在中文里好像叫处长比叫张处长亲热， 不
过英文里俺觉得，叫Professor Smith 要比Professor亲切。
第二个问题是心理学的问题，据说I'm interested in 比I'm applying要自信一些。
不过按觉不出来，大概是英文太差，语感不够。 |

That paper is not in my current major area, but it is in the area of the
search committee chair.
During the interview, they told me that they are looking for people who can
fit into their department well.
Our paper presents some initial result of our work, so it is not a big work
for the moment.
But it certainly suggests my future work.
Since our paper is not on a top venue, I wonder if it will really help or
not.

rules that no committee members should contact candidates individually,
which was not reinforced that strict, but still, there is a rule. |

大家觉得他这么写，究竟啥意思？
更令人为难的是，他紧接着推荐了2门很耗时间的数学课程，而且与本人课题完全不相
关，连导师都觉得没理由非上不可。可我都博士最后一年了，还学2门课，哪里有时间
啊？
请问这里的诸位发考题们，我该怎么办好呢？

发帖数: 194 | 34 化学。具体专业就不说了。POSTDOC老板是业内大牛。文章数量尚可（20+），分数较低，无JACS以上。PHD，POSTDOC，和POSITION都是TIER3的学校。申了10+个。背景较差，希望以我的事例给大家以鼓舞。
感觉文章，老板，和方向是拿到INTERVIEW的敲门砖。老板的强力推荐尤其重要。
面试其一是DEFEND你的PROPOSAL。第一要有足够的兴奋点，第二要可行，第三要证明自己有能力完成，第四要与原老板没有重叠。
其二是与系内强人（SEARCH COMMITTEE，CHAIR，大牛）建立CHEMISTRY。大概我面相较善，这点做得还行。
第一面搞砸，一个教授在我离开前私下跟我说RESEARCH 做得很好，但PROPOSAL不够吸引人。
第二面吹了个大的，暗示我的工作有得诺奖的可能。NND，都成了。撑死胆大的。
