departments closed in the face of waning undergraduate enrollment in
chemistry and a lack of funding to teach the subject. The situation has

university chemistry departments are also now recruiting staff.

上中学时,Chemistry就是化学课,就是H2O, 就是CO2, 就是氢气遇到氯气就变成了盐酸,
就是PH值小于7等于酸,大于7等于碱 (靠,这都记得)
到了鬼子窝里,才发现原来Chemistry其实另有它用. 譬如说,A男和B女约会, 第一感觉
很好,常常会说 我们很有Chemistry, 翻译过来就是”我们在一起很有感觉,很来电,我
们在一起气氛很好”. 其实仔细想想,也许男女在一起时,各自散发的某种化学物质在
空气中搅和在一起, 发生着某种化学反应, 这就是Chemistry吧. 想想也蛮形象的.
当然, Chemistry并不完全局限于男女之间. 只要是人于人之间的交流,都可以用
Chemistry来形容互相之间感觉的好与坏. 比如, 找工作面试的时候,一问一答,表面上
大家交流没什么问题,该回答的问题都对答如流,可最后就是不给Offer, 这里面很有可
能就是说Chemistry 不对,整体气氛不好,不对眼, 在一起不融洽,等等等等.

麻将里每张牌都有四张，对任何人都是公平的。麻将也不像扑克，十比九大，八比七大，
打扑克时每张牌的牌力都不一样，就要考虑到充分发挥牌力。
再者，打麻将时四人围坐一桌，轮流坐庄，机会均等，
不需要顾忌对家，便也不需要考虑怎么配合。当你竖起牌来，求大求小，为所欲为；
兴师动众，了无牵挂。自己就是自己的boss，无论你是要做“清一色”，“大三元”，
还是要做“七小对”，绝对基于个人意志，不会感到压迫，就算大牌下听时有一番
紧张，心情也是愉快的。而胡不成的时候纵然懊恼，那也是自己种瓜得瓜，种豆得豆，
与他人无尤。
而打拖拉机就不一样了，在未名游戏室里打拖拉机，尤其重要的一个因素就是对家。
除了那种神级高手可以孤胆英雄只身开黑店面不改色，对于大部分玩家来讲，有没有
一个比较靠谱相对固定的对家区别是很大的。--没有固定对家，一打起来往往那就是
赢了敌人跑，输了对家跑，要想涨点分，那是相当不容易。而要是碰上不靠谱的对家，
比如那种不管牌好牌坏拼死也要绝门下重分的，最后被人撬底一拍两瞪眼，更是只好

or molecular electronic or solar cells all those fancy stuffs belong to
physical chemistry. For example, Lieber is a physical chemistry professor. Or
you can say it belongs to material chemistry.
However, traditionally, physical chemistry should be related to the fundmental
research toward atom, molecules. To strictly classify physical, organic,
inorganic chemistry doesn't have much meanings.

clinical chemistry fellowship program的优点是，读出来考了board后就有资格可以
做clinical lab的director，管理一个实验室和手下的medical technologists，工资
怎么也有10万以上，和传统的career path:
medical technologist -->
medical technologist supervisor --> director 相比省下不少时间。
但是走这条路的风险也是有的：
1. 竞争激烈：全美只有不到20个clinical chemistry fellowship program，我所在学
校的最近申请的人都有3年以上的博士后经验以及5篇以上的学术文章。
2. 毕业后就业不容易：我说的就业不易是针对没有在clinical lab里做过检验的人而
言的，我是phd candidate，就没有这方面的经验，不知道这个版上的人有没有相关经

一般药厂R & D中心都会有一个专门的Medicinal Chemistry的部门，诺华是放在
Chemistry下面的，GSK是放在DPU里面的，罗氏是独立出来的；各公司人数在30-50人之
间；目前职位空缺如下：罗氏Function Head(Director Level) & Group Leader(
Manager Level); 诺华1个Head的空缺（Open的有段时间了，offering的状态）
CRO一般都有个较庞大的Medicinal Chemistry的部门，人数300-600之间： WuXi
Apptec、Sundia Meditech、ChemPartner规模都还行；大多是按照项目及客户进行分组
，然后各组有自己的Group Leader和Associate Director; AD级别以上人数有20-10不
等；
总结：目前国内Medicinal Chemistry人才稍微有些储备，Entry Level的机会相对来讲
