SUVs have a slightly higher death rate of 28. In the IIHS’s 2007 study,
SUVs had a driver death rate of 65. Those figures were even higher for SUVs
from the 1999 to 2002 model years. The IIHS says SUVs’ average death rate
“was 82 per million, nearly as high as the 88 per million for cars. In the
new analysis, the death rate for SUVs is half that of cars.”

,现在越来越多的crossover,有的老牌truckbased车型都改成crossover了,比如Ford
Explorer.07年统计死亡率最高的几个SUV车型基本上都停产了,比如chevy blazer.
很多SUV其实跟minivan就是一个里子,只是壳子不同,乘客厢短了,车头长了,还有AWD,理
论上比minivan稍微安全一点,典型的例子就是MDX/pilot跟Odyssey,但是实际上三者死
亡率Pilot>odyssey>MDX,差别基本上是统计涨落和司机的区别.
另外ESC系统普及也对安全性有很大提高.
