really sorry to hear that. reminds me of my father who passed a month ago
also from cancer and lung infection. if you PM me, i can share with you my
experience if that may help you go through the tough time.
the number one priority right now is trying to get him off ventilator. the
docs may say something different to you, but from patient's point of view,
breathing through a machine is a very dreaded and traumatic experience. his
recurrent infection is also most likely related to the ventila

There are multiple types of anxiety, including general anxiety disorder,
panic disorder, specific phobia, post traumatic disorder etc. With
different treatment, different medications can be used. Several
psychotherapy has been proven effective, particularly for phobia disorder.

injury. unfortunately the results show it is useless in either spinal cord
injury or traumatic brain injury. it was also tested in a number of other
conditions without any good results.

when you say motor neuron injury, it usually means chemical injury by
poisoning (less often it can also refer to a component in traumatic brain/
spinal cord injury). if this is the case, we should try to figure out what
poison was used. i am not sure if this is what you meant.

the primary pathological changes are in the adipose tissue, not the fibrous
tissue. this is why the pathology report is not consistent with panniculitis.
this could be a poor tissue sampling. panniculitis cannot be ruled out.
if panniculitis is diagnosed, it should also indicate the type or cause:
infectious, traumatic or secondary/as part of another disease. they are all
very different.

as you already know, it is a serious condition.
just from the symptoms, it is likely acute myocardial infarction (AMI). it
could also be severe angina without infarction. in the majority of cases,
the primary cause is vascular. alternatively, in certain circumstances,
problems in the conduction system can cause hemodynamic disturbances severe
enough to cause heart attacks.
AMI, depending on where it occurs, can damage the conduction system too.

Did anyone who had a traumatic vaginal delievery choose to have a c-section
for the second baby? I am very frustrated with the doctors and the medical
articles. Some say planned c-sections are as safe as vaginal delieveries.
Some say c-sections are riskier than vaginal deliveries.

又钩起我最早的悲摧记忆了。 两岁多我爸教我分数,我总也不明白为什么1/2比1
/4大,明明4比2大嘛!我爸一生气,一拳锤在桌子上,吓得我把手里的玩具"乒乓
"给捏碎了。 我记得很清楚,"乒乓"上花着绿色的叶子,红的花。 当时我想,这么
薄的玻璃,还好不扎手啊。
后来看书上说,孩子很多最早期的记忆都是traumatized events。 所以我提醒自己,
将来不要以为孩子小将来记不得就不注意自己的言行,也许一不小心就成了孩子潜意识
里最初的烙印了。

我最早的记忆是坐在床上看我妈梳小辫。肯定是一岁半以前,因为在那之后的照片里我
妈就留短发了。感觉里母女都很高兴,我心里觉着妈妈很好看。如果那时候和家人失散
,那就是我记忆中模糊的母亲形象了。
traumatized也有一次,貌似是我妈要揍我,屋子很黑,妈很凶,吓得我一边哭一边满
床的爬。肯定很小。
不过也很难说小孩会记住哪次trauma。因为据说我小时候还磕到过,烫着过,生病不计
其数,但都不记得了。偏偏记住这次满床爬的。呵呵。

and take upper occlusal x-ray to evaluate front teeth. Sometime, the front

娃9个多月,这是第四周送daycare
情况:
每天放下如果不是她favorite的两个老师抱过去,还是要大哭。
在daycare不吃奶(白天在家也会这样),辅食倒是来者不拒
不睡觉,每天总共睡30分钟到一小时,在家nap一共可以睡4-6小时
lg的感觉:
他说要是几周下来娃还不能back to schedule,我们就应该考虑换daycare。问题是几
周是几周呢,另外小娃的schedule也是经常变的。我觉得他是因为有一次3点钟提前去
接她,看到她一个人在mat上哭,没人管,做爹的有点traumatized了。当时老师说她刚
睡醒
我的感觉:
娃在daycare还是开心的,学到些新本领,咿咿呀呀的话也多了,见生人还会招招手。
她本来是个敏感粘人的娃,哭我觉得也正常
总之我觉得大部分老师都还很好,各种情况也在normal范围内
不过她睡不好我还是很担心的。大家觉得呢?

孩子的的大夫是Tribeca, 他们有一本书叫The Bew Basics
刚看到一个部分是关于训练孩子睡眠的。
简单说
一般是从四个月开始,但他们发现其实从两个月开始更加有效。这时间训练孩子独立睡
眠只需要三天。
晚上喂饱孩子时候把孩子扔床上,然后离开不要再打搅孩子,第二天早上再来看孩子。
孩子大概第一天和第二天会哭的比较厉害,第三天第四天就没事了。
具体文章参见下面。因为我对这便不熟悉,觉得有点夸张。他们说的是否真的这么简单
有效。当然,我逻辑上同意他们的说法,越早训练,孩子依赖性越容易摆脱,有可能事
半功倍。但不知道大家看法如何?

这本书是一个儿童心理医生Bruce Perry和一个记者的合著。里面收录的都是这个医生
亲手治疗过的案例。
我自从知道有“为人父母",就想来推荐此书,但是一再犹豫。因为收录的这下案例非常
非常的extreme。有幼童亲见母亲被杀,或是遭遇性侵,还有冷血少年杀手,遭邪教洗
脑的孩子,和如书名所诉,被和狗一起圈养的孤儿。这绝对不是一个“容易”读的书。
我一直认为我的心里承受能力很不错,但是两次读此书,我都经常要take a break,我
觉得很多有孩子的人都会觉得这本书读不下去。
但是,我从这本书里学到很多。这个曾是神经学专家的儿童心理医生通过他这些极为特
殊的病人在这本书中案例分析不仅提供了如婴幼儿大脑发育这样的学术问题的分析,也
解释了如何对这样身心受损的孩子进行治疗。
虽然貌似这些案例对大多数的孩子的日常生活都不applicable,但是我觉得其实很多

我来解释一下先:书中的一个重要的思想是大脑是身体的总指挥。如果一个孩子的脑部
的发展因为外界环境的原因滞后或是受挫,势必影响到孩子的身体发育,行为习惯等等
。又比如,书中还提到如果孩子under stress,他的大脑中的“报警”系统就很发达,
但是这种不平衡会导致孩子日后对外界良好正常的刺激失去应有的灵敏度。
所以,书中举的案例中的孩子虽然多是极度暴力的受害者,但是不要忽视subtitle所蕴
藏的信息:What Traumatized Children Can Teach Us About Loss, Love and
Healing
对于孩子来说,Loss不一定是象书中孩子那样失去至亲,也可能是家里又多了一个孩子
,因此失去了一些attention。 Stress不一定来自于直接的暴力,生病住院,在一个
陌生的环境下接受正常的治疗(intrusive的抽血)的孩子也需要心理上的healing。
书中分析的孩子的语言,社交,甚至是饮食和睡眠障碍也都是父母的日常话题。

+笔记。
总的来讲是大大的推荐。作者是一个儿童精神医生,从大脑结构发育过程的角度来解释
孩子的经历对他们的行为和心理的影响,以及如何帮助曾经收到过巨大心里创伤的孩子
走出阴影。作者每章以1-2个孩子的故事为中心,辅以相应的专业知识,慢慢展开对于
大脑发育方面的讨论。虽然书里面的故事都是来自作者经历的及其悲天悯人的事件,但
是所阐述的知识却是可以用来帮助每个家长和老师来更好的理解孩子

同意。 我有很多同学都没上过幼儿园直接上小学的,没看出啥区别来;但是我认识的
一些在美国长大的中国人,印度人,越南人小时候在家妈妈或者老人带到好几岁,突然
一下上幼儿园或k,现在回想起来都有不是很好的回忆,刚开始比较shock甚至

A good read from journal today - we need to teach kids to be patient.
When my daughter was 18 months old, my husband and I decided to take her on
a little summer holiday. We picked a coastal town that's a few hours by
train from Paris, where we were living (I'm American, he's British), and
booked a hotel room with a crib. Bean, as we call her, was our only child at

我是研究 traumatic brain injury的,诚恳的说一句,橄榄球真是很容易受伤,而脑
袋多次受冲撞(multiple concussion) 是真的影响大脑的。当然这都是统计学上意义
上的,所以肯定有特列。其实不止橄榄球,足球也是比较容易脑袋受伤的。请三思。

人数上,Autism占了0.8%。其中还包含各种受到health impairments和traumatic
brain injury的孩子,这些是意外伤害和疾病后移症的孩子。
所以有些用心恶毒的人在攻击special education的时候,可能还有保佑自己的孩子不
要一不小心掉到这些categories里。
