最近我在ebay上搞来一个405nm的nichia大功率laser diode，据说最大输出是400mW，
但是我的laser driver比较土，最大只能达到200mA，所以没有达到最大功率。
我发现5mW的LD的threshold current ~ 25mA （无牌子，来自ebay的laser pointer)，
150mW(blue-ray，ebay)的是33mA，而400mW的threshold居然是115mA，在lasing前输出
功率已经达到0.4mW，这个是不是意味着这些大功率的LD的腔长很长呢？

有的高于标准，有的低于标准. 我们的任务是要尽可能的把高于标准的土壤挖出来，然

这个threshold value，或者活跃分子的type，会不会随时间变化。如果不是，还是不
能解释从过去不活跃到现在活跃的变化。除非我们假设这一观察到的事实无非是许多可
能的一个实现。在另一个可能的世界（possible world）里,我们会发现过去政治投机
分子是活跃的，而现在变得沉默了。
根据你的解释，你的多个threshold value完全基于多个belief types. 这个应该是假
定separating equilibrium存在情况下的自然结果。 |

unknown threshold if they don't take the assumption in mathematics!!! As long as they have this assumed certainty, they can estimate the threshold with a mathematical skill (通过解方程组而得解).

我做了一个图来说明统计学中分段回归模型的连续性与数学中分段函数的连续性的区别。
说明一下：图中的临界点被假设并估计在Ｘ上（Threshold on X），它是在全样本空间
里进行迭代搜索（即每假设Ｘ的一个随机实测点为可能的临界点时就得到一对分段模型
，当样本量为ｎ时，就有ｎ对随机临界模型，每对临界模型都有一个合并的预测残差的
期望估计量）的基础上以分段模型的合并残差期望对全域模型的残差期望的相对改变为
权重而计算出来的Ｘ上的一个加权期望。所以，两个分段模型间不是ｅｘａｃｔｌｙ连
接在一起的。
我的问题是，这两个分段模型间是连续的还是离断的？为什么？（问题上站几个小时了
也没人愿意回答。还是让我自己回答好了：从统计的随机变异角度看，我们没法假设两
段模型间是连续的，两者间必有一个随机的连接变异存在，从而也就不能用解联立方程
的办法来估计临界点。为了知道两段模型是否连续，我们需要一个概率推断，即推断那
个随机的连接变异在本次抽样中作为随机误差发生的大小。这个变异在样本空间上发生

code。Just copy-paste it to your SAS and run it, then you will have a
distribution of the 500 weigthed mean thresholds. Take a look and make your
judgment. That is it. Simple.
I will post the part III, which based on optimization and enforced
continuity assumption without any other assumption. The result (a
distribution of the 500 thresholds estimated in this way) is absurd.

数据是被threshold过的，threshold已知，大于阈值（或者小于，或者边界值之外）的
数据都被砍掉，但是分布的大部分都在阈值（边界值）以内，只是被砍掉尾巴了。有没
有unbiased的算法直接给出mean和variance，而不用去对histogram作gaussian
fitting的？

1) 树叶和树丛上的积雪。这个最精确的办法是手绘，最好手边有几张可以参考的照片，看看树叶和
树丛积雪的有什么物理特点，用白色和浅灰/蓝色绘出积雪的明暗立体感来。后面lemma和冬盖都是
用的这个办法。俺比较没有耐心就偷懒了一把，用的是select -> color range，选择树叶上的
高光部分，多试几次，一直选到自己满意的选区为止，然后新建层用白色填充，这个就是积
雪“层”了。基本上画面上树叶、石头、船篷的高光部分都能积上“雪”，选取的时候不可避免会选到很
多无关的地方如水面和房子的白墙等，这可以用不同形状和笔触的橡皮擦擦掉。觉得应该积雪深点的
地方如船篷，可用不规则的毛笔画点上去。不过这个偷懒的办法没法体现积雪的厚度和立体感 -_-。
2)天空中的飘雪。新建层用filter->Gaussian noise，再稍微gaussian blur一下，然后
Image->Threshold，调整一下threshold的level，直到雪花的密度自己满意为止。这时候雪花

从11月1日到明年3月初，我sign up coach Dwight 的computrainer class.
周三是1小时，周六是4小时。这是我漫长冬天自行车训练的core. 我自己练是绝对达不
到class 那种强度的。
另外两次是在地下室。一次是roller, 比较轻松的。 一次是computrainer, 比较大点
的强度。
我10月底让coach Dwight 在computrainer上面给我做60分钟的power test，标出核心
的Lactate threshold.
这样我就能确定自己的不同training zone 的HR和power (watts)。另外每年比较一下
这个threshold，看看自己进步了没有。
我没有什么plan来推荐。plan 永远赶不上变化。：-） |

和3天的安排，希望能对它感兴趣的人做个参考。
Track - Lime Rock Park
Car - MX5 （车是由pro race driver调的，instructor说悬挂设置大概是前toe out 1
/16，camber 1.75，后toe 0. 偏loose的调教，跟我350Z原厂悬挂比那简直是相当
predictable）

MX5和方程式赛车一起，分两组。每组又分为两小组，所以一共是4组交替跑。
Day 1
上午-基础知识介绍。autox（熟悉车）
下午-跟趾将挡练习（在uphill和west bend之间绕圈练习）。3/4个车跟instructor的

上午-Rain line和flag介绍。stop box练习（每开一圈停在发车点，instructor会在不

让我在这方面easy一些，我常去的赛道大部分弯道都是出弯比入弯关键得多。而且
braking对于我这种新手来说非常难，所以他让我在接下来的几次时间内好好练练，现
在关键是还是line的准确度和throttle and car control.

Interesting note out this afternoon from the folks over at Bespoke
Investment Group. It offers a by-the- numbers look at corrections, which
MarketBeaters of course know is typically defined as a 10% decline from a
market peak, which stops short of becoming a full-blown bear market. (The
threshold for a bear market is a 20% drop.) Here are some of the key digits,
using the S&P 500 stock index.

我们技术移民要是能开餐馆，开超市，应该能改观不少。什么时候才能出现干净整洁的
中国超市，没有10dollor threshold; 什么时候才能有看到自己人时服务更热情的中餐
