小弟本是学术界的Bioinformatics Scientist，因生计问题3年前改行工业界Data

1.1 Data scientist的职责？
DS是数据应用科学家。他应该立足某个应用领域，根据领域需求设计合适的数据产品，

Facebook有两种data scientist, 一种是core data scientist, 招的人比较像MSR, 或
者Google Research那种profile. 另一种是product data scientist. 我下面主要针对
第二种说.
先说analytics org, 基本可以概括成分散集中制, 工作时分散的, 管理是集中的.
Facebook大体上可以分成product org和business org. 后者是sales/HR/marketing/
Finance等等那些部门, 而data scientists是属于product org. 对于product org, 又

scientist的好处：
（1）听起来好听，和别人说起来有面子。这个不完全是虚的，因为跳槽的时候
recruiter可能就看中这个。
（2）scientist做的工作多半是和paper以及patent有关，可以写进自己的简历。不像
engineer，离开了东家，挥一挥云彩，不能带走任何产品，没有多少可以写进简历的东
西。
（3）可能工作的自由度要大些。
engineer的好处：
（1）发展空间大，升职快。虽然不同公司对于scientist的重视程度不一样，但是说白
了公司都是短视而且利益驱动的，所以scientist注定被边缘化，而engineer才是公司
的主力。
（2）如果裁员，scientist要先于engineer。
（3）跳槽的时候，engineer比scientist选择余地大。但实际怎么样还要看具体情况。
公司scientist的性质，有点像faculty和engineer的中和。但是它没有faculty的稳定
，也没有engineer来钱快，所以这种中和到底是好是坏，还真的很难说。 |

目前在做博后
但是有一个Data Scientist的工作offer
请问如果以Data Scientist的工作对485有风险吗？
如果485 RFE要求EVL，Data Scientist算领域内的工作吗？
当时140和485的表格中填的领域倒是Research Scientist
和Data Scientist只差一个字
但其实我感觉还是差挺远，目前做的研究是能源相关的基础研究
但是Data Scientist的工资比博后强多了（主要是博后太低）

发帖数: 247 | 45 听说小硕很难到Scientist,最多Chemist.现申请了一个Sciensit 职位,也拿到了onsite
.我的背景化学+药学(国内,硕士),在国内做过数个ANDA,一个NDA(做到临床),来美国后
又拿了个非化学硕士(主要做分析).此职位主要focus on generic R&D.过来人给说说可
能性怎样? 还是说generic的Scientist比新药研发的Scientist的门槛底很多?
电面的时候问了一些技术方面的细节,我感觉答得不是太好,但好在以前在国内的项目做
得比较踏实,面世我的director还是比较满意.所以拿到了Onsite.但director同时问我
如果降到chemist III 我还接不接受.我说没问题,但同时我也说我现在最需要的是熟悉
他们的环境,相信我很快就能达到Scientist的要求,Director也说他相信这一点.
不知版上有没有在generic里混的大侠?给说说entry level scientist和Chemist III的
薪水如何?如果能拿到scientist,是不是对以后的职业发展会好点?我已经找了大半年了

到两个职位，要求的技术都一样，但是不同的部门，面试product development
scientist要注意什么呢？谢谢 |

发帖数: 3348 | 49 感觉前三家tilte都一个level，区别是Amgen好像没有Scientist II，但是其他两个都
有。
现在大分子药厂的title有趋同的趋势(scientist=research scientist=research
investigator)，包括celgene,biogen, amgen, genzyme, gilead, bms, 还有新贵
regenouron。
还有感觉Genentech有点被神话了。其实Genentech刚进去给的比较低，是associate
scientist, 因为在三番，pay的高一档次，但实际上内部也是按照3-4年的频率升一级
，到senior scientist以后慢下来，所以genentech的senior scientist跟上面那些公
司senior也属于同一level。 |

我过去几周和1-4都接触了下，感觉这几个还是有些差别的。
Biogen Scientist I基本就像学术圈的postdoc那样干活，自主性不高，有点像没有发
表论文压力的博士后；Serono像是做产品的，不大care研究，上司manager有很多药厂
经验，但是不是PhD水平的研究工作者，更像是business manager。理解可能有误，纯
评价他们看中我简历要我面试的岗位情况。可能我较弱，只有这种档次的会相中我。
Celgene Scientist II一般要3-5年博后经验，但是好像也愿意考虑背景高度match刚毕
业的候选人。Scientist II没有自己的助手，但是可以找团队里principal scientist
的associate scientist帮忙。
Amgen的Scientist都有自己的1-2个助手，在开始的时候上司会有固定项目布置，自己
也可以propose。Amgen South San Francisco 现在非常注重research，也开始鼓励发
