lg学校的统一保险贵（每年2400$），因他几乎从不看病，我有意帮他买个便宜些的。
我打电话问学校对保险的要求，对方说500,000$ 的annual benefit,
并要包括inpatient和outpatient服务，mental 和physical therapy.
我上网查询了各种保险，没提到“annual benefit”这一参数，也没有专门罗列
保险的范围是physical的还是mental。只有deductible，copay百分比这些。
我迷惑，是说这些保险的annual benefit没有上限？
并且默认了physical和mental都保？
学校的要求是不是大部分保险都能达到，没什么难的？

孩”，带这个字就可以反映一些想法。三岁之后才谈得上教育，交给学校管。
需要多少环境support，一个人才不会develop mental disorder，这个很难说，也有理
论说mental disorder跟环境毫无关系，完全是先天的，也有理论说mental disorder有
重大环境因素，早干预就算先天有基因，也可以得到相当的改善。主流比较折衷，也就
是所谓nature+nurture，或者说bio+social+psychological三者共同作用。
个人意见，小朋友多接触世界，任何年龄都不嫌早（当然也不是说月子里就要带出去
camping那么极端），半岁吧，我觉得半岁左右身体和免疫系统慢慢强壮了，一般的
social activity对小朋友是益处多于风险了。三岁之前不送幼儿园的话，最好也能参
加多点和其他小朋友一起的活动，每天只对着家里人，窃以为对小朋友发育是不利的。 |

儿子11了，4岁半来美，现在初中一年，去年8月刚搬家到新的学区。在新学校总是出现

history被批评是 biased， 教育被教育学家批评摧残人性， 我还没看到批评其他学科
的书。 High stake standardized test批评最厉害， 指责迫使老师只教考试内容，
不考试的就不教。 现在是COMMON CORE， 不知道又被批评什么样。 有没有道理，个人
见地不一样， 我觉得这些批评家讲的有些道理。
该如何教, 个人有个人的教法, 各有好坏，我不做评论. 但我对的成功的教育很明确.
1. 智力成功 比较客观， 比如好的SAT的成绩 ,竞赛获奖
2. 精神成功 比较主观， 比如活的开心. 除了Golden Rule外, 个人的定义差异很大.
从有人开始哲学家就争这个问题。 我的标准只要自己觉得开心就好 。
至于HOMESCHOOL， 还是去学校 ，或是别的方法，我没异议。只要教育达到这个目标，

sense of purpose 的问题。
如果是 mental toughness 的问题，那拼进哈佛的 mental toughness
岂不是更大？。。。Come on, those guys/gals work so so so hard
then get the ticket to that star beyond the stars, and then
they trash them in the half-way? Give me a break...

不过如果纯粹从理论分析的角度，只要自家娃是 top 20% 的能够抵抗的话，
这个可能确实不太需要紧张。。。本质上而言，如果上面人说的社会压力啥
的是事实，那 LGBT 至少在青春期的青少年里，是一个 mentally weaker
group。。。如果过犹不及真的发生，大人们也不干预的话，基于人类的
自我调节能力，我猜测会发生青春叛逆期青少年里的 elite group，觉得自
己是被上一代愚弄了，也许会发生 elite group 的群体行为，通过施加
mental pressure 而压缩 mentally weaker 的 LGBT group 的生存空间
。。。
其实人类的青春叛逆期还是相当丛林法则的，（当然可能也是人类自我纠错
的一个机制）。。。而如果这事儿是青少年中 elite group 而不是 stupid
group 的群体行为驱动的，估计学校的大部分老师也对付不了。。。很难
跟下一代的 best in best group 正面硬钢是硬道理，否则人类早灭亡了
。。。
