social science position. Candidates 世界各地都有,中国人占了大概一半(也是从
世界各地申请的)。发现以下几点技术因素非常减分:
(1)眼睑低着(就像在读稿子)
(2)整个人的位置是斜的,不是正面对这镜头
(3)不停的晃阿晃阿晃阿
(4)不停的摆手,尤其是讲到激动处
(5)不把话讲完
(6)正个人在屏幕上过大或者过小
(7)背景太复杂
(8) 口音太重(没办法,就是很有影响)
这些都是小事,但非常值得注意。因为直接影响每个人的感受,并且不喜欢你的人总能
联系到classroom teaching。我发现有人真的是演练得很好,并且一定从灯光,背景个
方面都“测试”过。觉得skype interview这一步很关键,直接关系谁进shortlist。除
了一两个stand out 之外,很多细节上下功夫的人就占优势了,尤其是英语不是母语的
人。

偶们这里招人, 不仅不弄任何telephone interview,
有时连推荐信每人都只要一封(除导师之外的找一个),
最重要的一个是简历,一个是job talk, 简历第一名和第十名差很远
怎么可能舍好求次. 找四个人来面试还怕没有一个好的?

来的一位访学去听有她参与的课时以为那门课安排了俩教授呢!她去年唯一的skype
interview据她说“terrible” 没拿到offer, 另一个中国学生的skype interview感觉
也同样糟糕,但最后去了campus visit, 还拿到了offer.

the search committee chair and then picked ~8 for Skype interview with
search committee, and picked 4 for onsite. I got eliminated after the phone
interview but I do know that department didn't get anyone after all 4 on-
sites.

从申请phd到目前postdoc没有任何phone interview经验啊,只是在找postdoc是和现在

试口语和personality的。

。这其实是挺好的做法,让双方都有机会多了解对方。
Second interview时,可以看房子了。我知道有人在second interview时就把房子买了

首先,我觉得,包括我自己在内,认识的好些人找工作时,都特别看重technical的部
分。Technical part当然要能弄多清楚就弄多清楚。不过Behavior part是绝对不能忽
视的。记得当初参加Mckinsey的workshop时,他们就说过看一个人是不是Fit一家公司

1 自己感觉好, 绝对不代表什么;
2 让对方感觉好才是最重要的的, 所以, 不要jjww说一堆, 要说对方愿意听的;
3 看interview questions有用, 但是前提是你懂那些知识的情况下, 如果你完全不懂,
看了记答案是没有前途的, 人家随便问几个问题, 就漏馅了;
4 interview之前一定要搞清楚对方要什么人, 做的什么project, 揣摩如果你是他, 你
希望你招的人如何回答问题;
5 不懂就说不懂, 不懂装懂更糟糕;
6 要多写code, 在纸上写.

电话面试相对来说客观一点,毕竟通过电话的交流还是比较困难,因此会问很多问题。
这些问题可能涵盖过广的范围,从很基础的问题到相对来说抽象的问题。实际上
interviewer也很难从电话面试判断一个人的能力。
另外一方面,接受电话面试的通常会比较多,这样一来,通过率会较低。
onsite interview则相对主观一些。但是也会涉及到相当多的具体问题。但既然进入了
最后一关,拿到offer的可能性还是较高。其中包括,candidates本来就少,另外即便
没有直接拿到offer,还有可能在waiting list上面,因此机会还是蛮大的。 |

intern interview的过程好像和以前不太一样了,目前在发正式offer前,需要经历2轮
电话
interview,然后会进入一个candidate pool,由manager来挑选,这个过程叫host
bidding.
方面来
说,因为开发人员更容易理解你的code,你更容易和他们沟通。每个人大约2道题。其
中一个人两个
都是算法。另一个就会问一道概念题(当然,是很多小概念),一道算法。面完后,他
们把
feedback发给HR,如果两个人对你的评价都是positive,那么恭喜,你进入candidate
pool
了。一般这个要等待1天到几周不等。

把每一行都缩进,很麻烦。我个人不建议先在IDE里写,因为这是个interactive的过程,

the morning, followed by a few interviews, lunch, and then some afternoon
interviews. It will take longer to finish. That's why I said maybe 5pm.

如果真的只是HR通过phone interview的几个问题来考核是否pass的话,i am totally
