asked me to write a review for her. So here it is.
I highly recommend Dr. Wing's mock interview to students who don't feel
confident about their strengths. She will read your application ahead of
time and give you very personal advice. She really puts her in your position
and thinks for you. She uses the words like"if I were you, I would...". I

是正面作用还是负面作用呢？
公司会否觉得我同时interview 多个公司，对他们公司不忠，怕我以后会跳槽，不稳定
之类的而不再考虑我了呢？
还是公司会觉得我同时能拿到多个interview，会对我的申请有正面作用，他们会加速
要我呢？
我知道interview 毕竟没有offer 有力度。不知道应该告诉interview 的公司吗？ 还
是等拿到offer再说？
我怕到时候每个公司都没有offer 就惨了。 现在都还是phone interview 都还没有
onsite，这个星期突然几天都没有消息了。
我也怕到时公司A据了我后，另一个公司B问我A有没有给我offer的时候， 我应该如何
回答？
我要是说被A 据了，会否接着B 也觉得应该和A一样把我锯掉呢？
不知道现在发信和公司说正在interview 多个公司，每个公司催下会有正面效果还是负
面效果呢？
比如各家大公司的情况都是如何的呢？

发帖数: 10 | 6 晚来一个月的update。485被interview了，原因是结婚没几个月就一起申卡，这点IO很
清晰点明了。其实都心知肚明，buy one get one free的deal，谁不要啊。
此记录interview的整个timeline，给不幸中奖的后来人一颗定心丸，也是还本版一个
欠下的情。interview就等于过了，时间上多等个把月而已。
3月中旬concurrent filing，NSC
5/24 initial review 案子开始动了
6/4 initial review - transfer to NBC， MO
EB的case被transfer到密苏里这个NBC，八成就是interview
6/7 initial review - being processed at NBC
case到了NBC，开始审。
6/14 Testing and review - ready for interview scheduling
6/24 Testing and review - interview scheduled on 7/24

最近很多呼吁老中互相帮助，对抗老印的帖子。我觉得老中互助可以从phone
interview开始做起，因为phone interview大部分都是一个人，就是你说了算，说你行
你就行。不象on site许多人参与，有可能你说了好话也没用（老板不同意或者有一票
否决制）。并且phone interview只是第一步，就算这个人真的烂，自然会被on site那
一步据掉，并不会有太大不良后果。另外，老中往往英语不好，或不善表达，再加上紧
张害羞等因素，phone interview很可能会无法完全发挥。如果能给他/她多一次机会，
来到on site也许face to face谈话会表现得好得多。最后，phone interview一般就一

affiliation).
The night before: stayed at American’s Best Value Inn, double room with
double beds, $40 including tax and fees. Nice and quiet room, about 25~30
minutes from hospital. Free wireless, no breakfast. I left for the
hospitalone hour ahead of time.
PC do recommend two hotels for you but more expensive, although closer to
the hospital.

， 难度也有所加大。 今年我在search committee 面试了不少candidates, 感觉我们
的同胞应对skype interview 还有不少欠缺之处。 其实很多同胞的研究背景很强，如
果能好好准备应对，应该是很有机会的。
我在这里贡献些心得， 希望对大家有所帮助。
1。 获得Skype interview 的机会以后，最好先和朋友准备以下。 webcam 的角度要调
整好， 特别是不要向上，否则别人总是看到你鼻孔超天的样子， 印象分大减。 还有
， 环境要选好， 不要在杂乱的房间里面， 至少不要让别人觉得你更本不重视这个面
试。 另外， 最好穿正式， 起码半正式的衣服。 不要穿t-shirt 什么的。 今年我们
interview 的时候， 大多数人都穿比较正式的衬衫打领带， 可是大多数同胞都穿的很
随意， 有的在自己卧室背景杂乱的地方，结果讨论的时候被认为没有诚意。

I searched the background of the Hiring Manager --- more than 60
publications and 90 patents! During the interview, four questions were
impressive:
1. Asked the persons / researchers in my research field. I told him some
researchers working in companies because I know them from the conference.

Wednesday) by recruiter that there is a follow up coding interview.
Is this a bad sign? I had interview with FB 2.5 years ago that there was a
follow up coding interview and FB rejected me after the follow up interview.
I am not sure why this follow up interview is needed and what FB is looking
for on the follow up interview.

故。尤其最后几天，甚至可达上百封的email与各位前来的interviewee以及
interviewer和Alex等沟通，都是在紧张的floor service之余完成的。活动之后又给各
位interviewer写感谢信，给大家汇报总结。兄弟惭愧，没有帮上太多的忙，只是面试
当天帮助协调一下。这次活动也为下一次mock interview的积累了经验，打下了人脉基
础，一些interviewer表示明年还愿意来，并对你的出色工作给予了高度赞扬。
Emma也在自己的紧张学习，工作，申请，准备step3之余作了大量的协调工作，实在是
辛苦了！还有各位前来interview的同学们，远的有加州，德州，佛州，Georgia等，近
的有宾州，DC，匹兹堡，整个过程互相配合。虽然诸多变故，依然井然有序，表现出了

Dress: black or navy blue suit, solid white shirt the best, light pink also
ok; business casual for dinner before interview.
Make up: must for female applicant to make us look more energetic;

年一拿到面试，就报了Dr. Wing Mock Interview。虽然费用不菲，但跟申请上巨大的
时间和金钱投入相比，不算什么。ACAP和Dr. Wing 的Mock Interview我都参加了，想
浅谈一下我对ACAP和Dr. Wing Mock Interview 的看法。首先要感谢ACAP组织这个免费
的活动，和无偿担任面试人的各位前辈。面试也很专业，反馈很及时。唯一的问题是由
于参加的人员太多，面试人不可能针对每个个例提出具体意见和建议。这也恰恰是Dr.
Wing Mock Interview的优势所在。Dr. Wing要求至少48小时之前把申请的whole
package和面试单位的网站提供给她，面试的问题显示她确实花了时间研究，因此面试
特别有针对性。我的建议是如有可能，两个Mock Interview都值得一试。 |

发帖数: 1734 | 36 我在申请teaching school。进入short list之后phone interview,感觉背景就不是那么重要了。前面进行了几个phone interview, 觉得背景和职位要求挺match的，但是phone interview的时候某个问题回答不好，比如“What is your weakness?”马上就悲剧了。上周的一个phone interview，职位要求和我并不是很match,我觉得没啥希望。于是phone interview的时候进行了不常规的回答，两次惹得search committee members大笑，结过居然今天接到onsite的通知。Phone interview就是一joke。
我对这个学校没有报希望。因为背景不match。我第一次引人发笑是：
问：举出你最喜欢教的两门课？
我的回答：我看了你们系开的课，这些课很好。我可以告诉你我最不想教的两门课。其它的我都喜欢教。这两门是***,XXX。我很头痛这两门课。马上有个search committee member说他也不喜欢，然后大家就大笑。
还有一个问题我也引起大家笑了。

phone interview, so we can learn more about you.”
我发邮件问是不是意味着phone interview之后一定有一个campus interview？几天时
间过去了，对方没有回答这个问题。是不是意味着如果phone interview表现不好就没
有onsite的机会了？还是说一定有onsite的机会？ |

me "I asked around and people liked your demeanor, and we would like to
invite you for a 2nd interview"...then he went on saying that they would
finish interviewing other candidates one per week, and he would keep in
touch with me about the date for 2nd interview...if I prefer, they could
even do 2nd interview over skype due to my physical condition....

发帖数: 59 | 40 某年某月某日，到MS，面了两个组，共5人
早9:15到 building 19，见了 technique recruiter，给了第一个interviewer的联系
方式，然后等shuttle到interviewer的building
第一个题目是 BST 的问题，需要 DFS and WFS
面完后被领到休息区等待下一个人，可以喝点水，去洗手间什么的，因为要在白板上写
字，会把手弄得很脏，每次休息的时候我都会洗手，呆会还要握手，呵呵
第二个题目是 zero out 一个二维数组。这个题目以前看过，只不过没有引起注意。就
是如果数组A里A(i,j)=0，那么把第i列和j行都设定为0。写的时候犯了些小错，
interviewer 眼力很好，提出建议提高code的可读性问题。
完了后休息大概半小时，被领去吃饭，算是 lunch interview。吃饭时问了些如果和同
事有冲突该怎么办的问题。因为 interview 前身体不适，考虑到下午可能时间很长，
吃饭的时候点了热的东西，被我拖得时间长了些。吃完了还有一个 technique

your parachute?》 最好看2009最新版的。里面全面的介绍了找工作从生理到心里如何
应对，哪些是最有效的job hunting方式，然后分章节介绍了如何准备interview的很多
非常实用的技巧。其中还详细介绍了想自主创业的人如何开始。强烈推荐大家看一看。
下面分享几点interview个人心得：
1. 控制时间：interview是双向的，如果是30分钟的interview的话，最好你说15分钟
，对方说15分钟，不要一直都是你在夸自己。而且回答每一个问题最好不要超过2分钟
，如果对方感兴趣，就直接询问对方想不想知道更详细的内容。不要扩散思维，洋洋洒
洒说10分多钟，换位思考，如果咱们是interviewer的话，也会瞌睡，也会烦的。
2. 要真诚：美国的interviewer大多很nice，不会问很刁钻或很尴尬的问题。 所以大
家在参加面试的时候，根据自己的简历真是的介绍自己就行。说实话，大家的resume中
难免有overvalue自己的地方，但是切记不要太夸 |

Just call the manager today and he is arranging the group interview. And he
suggested me to allocate time for the onsite interview. It seems the group
interview will be similar to the first round of interview. Is this true?
Second question, how to prepare the onsite? It will take full day. It
includes one hour presentation.

诡异，分享一下：
Amazon的phone interview 有“两个”面试官在电话对面。不知道有木有同学遇到过这
样的情况。
Google本来是约了两次phone interview（好像大多数都是这样的）。突然recruiter发
邮件说“你只要一次phone interview就可以了。。。”
有同学遇到过这样的情况吗？BTW：Amazon 是不是通常有两个phone interview？怎么
第一个interview过了两个星期还木有回应。。。 |

司就再也没和我联系过。上个礼拜我发过一封email问HR Manager什么时候可以听到回
音，也没反应。
今天已经是interview之后的第十一天了，所以我忍不住打个电话给HR的头。下面是电
话的对白：
1.你好，我是某某。
2.hi，某某你好，how is going？
1.我很好，你好么。我今天打电话就是想问问关于上次interview的事情，我以为上周
你会告诉我结果，但是我一直没听到回音，所以我就打电话问问。
2.哦，你知道，在make a job offer之前，有一些approval process需要些时间，and
这次事件有点长，我们还需要几天的时间。
1. 你知道，我有点concerned，因为从你们公司回来之后，我经过慎重思考，我觉得我
特别喜欢那个职位，也喜欢你们的工作环境，所以我特别希望能够加入你们。

我最近几次面试的情况：
1 某最近新闻不断的大公司， phone interview告诉我you pass my phone screen, 当
天下午安排onsite，然后给了oral offer, 然后公司传闻不断，formal offer不了了之了
2 startup, skype interview ，phone interview告知 we will have you here, 第二
天email问我时间，几次商议，2天后定下onsite
3 周一phone interview, 结束时说goodbye, 周四hr说面试官推荐我第二次phone
screen, 正在商议时间
4, phone interview, 面试结束时说“i'll take to my boss”, 一周后，recruiter
说昨天或者今天给我confirm onsite, 还没消息，估计
基本上没什么规律，耐心等待吧 |

上发信过来要安排onsite interview的时间，也发了emplolyment application让我填
。我提交了。
来信说九月11号或14号安排一天时间，但还没具体的schedule。我就等啊等，从上周四
等到这周二。我想应该给人家一点时间安排的，于是我这周三给HR发了一封信follow
up 问具体interview的时间安排。回信问我说我是要driving down 他们公司还是要
flying，要11号还是14号。因为我本人在麻州，那工作在底特律，所以我回信说我比较倾
向flying，之前问我的时间时 我跟HR说14号的，可不知道为什么HR又问我一遍时间，
敢情她这几天都没安排时间的。我回信了说了自己的时间和交通安排。可发过去后又不
做声的，等了两天了还没回信。
上周一二安排phone interview时很积极，回复onsite interview时间也很快，但不晓
得为什么这几天一直在托，眼看11号，14号也要到了，还一点信息都没有，都不知道他
