want to share what I learned from Dr. Lanjing’s Class.
Dress: black or navy blue suit, solid white shirt the best, light pink also
ok; business casual for dinner before interview.
Make up: must for female applicant to make us look more energetic;
Interview: be able to “kick the ball back and forth” with interviewer;
Know the program and city very well before interview, not like me, “I said
I like NY, but I do not know central park or US Open”;
Be concise when answer questions, like “tell me about yourself”, tell your
shining point/career goal in 4-5 sentences;
Do not vote for or against something that is sensitive or political if do
not know what interviewer thinks, just say something neutral;
Practice English everyday;
Find someone to practice interview like real interview, dress up and face to
face.
I learned a lot from this class.
Really appreciate Dr Lanjing’s help. Special thanks for Dr Zhou’s accent
reduction class.
