Questions that we can ask interviewers;
- How should I prepare myself to be an efficient intern?
- What can your program offer that is/are different from other programs?

3. PD最最看重滴东东:你能不能把intern滴工作干好,所以 they are looking for a
nice, hardworking, teachable person who handles pressure well. 只有满足了以
上条件,才会看你滴academic performance。科研排在最后,当然不同滴program有不
同滴偏好。
4. 牛人请注意:千万不要给人留下arrogant滴印象。
5. 自吹自擂是可以滴但是一定要有证据lol

Sorry for the late post, his E-mail went into my junk mail, lol
Here we go:
Interviewing for Residency
Dr. Wang
Clinical Professor of Neurology
I. How interviewers prepare for you
1. Your packets include CV, scores, letters, statement
2. Most interviewers never read your packet ahead. So you may have to be
prepared to face faculty members who know nothing about you until they see
you. What are the clues for that: mistaking info about you, keep reading
your material while talking to you, kept asking you similar questions,
picking out one item to ask you to explain a little,
It is a plus for you. Use this occasion to say something nice about yourself.
3. They always pick US graduate first, so do not feel bad when you are
interviewing with them together. Have the confidence especially you know you
are good
II. How you should prepare yourself?
1. Dress neatly, never flashy
2. Be able to initiate conversation. It seems that Asians don’t talk,
Mideast people and South Americans talk too much and Europeans are more
adequate. This is important especially during the evening before interview
since you interact with the residents more.
3. Know the program you are applying well, especially their strong points
III. What does a program look for?
1. #1 is if you are a nice person
a. Attitude, articulate, attentive/good listener, teachable and
can I work with him or her
b. Form your letters of recommendations
2. Academic potential
a. Scholastic achievements, publications/research, your step scores
3. Interest to their program
IV. How they rate the candidates?
1. Their eval form often ask the interviewer if there is anything
outstandingly good or bad about you
2. They rank US graduate first, local resident first,
3. Then composite scores of you go into ranking.
4. Certain candidates may hit a sweet spot of certain faculty members so
they may pitch for you, hence rank you high
V. Increase your chances
1. Be nice
2. Be honest
3. Be respectful
4. Call, email, text message to program directors or interviewers if they
allow you to do so.
