约翰和圣保罗，二人相比之下，我认为施洗约翰更重要些，他才是《新约》中的男二号
，圣保罗排名第三，圣彼得只能委屈一下，坐第四把交椅。
《圣经 新约》中有2个重要的约翰，一位是施洗约翰(John the Baptist)，他是耶稣的
表哥和本文的主角；另一位是使徒约翰(John the Apostle)，他是耶稣的12使徒之一。
如果没有特别指明，本文所说的约翰都是施洗约翰。
关于约翰的身世，四大福音都有或多或少的记载，最详细的出自《路加福音》。犹太人
的血统划分与其他民族不同，是按照母系划分的，约翰的母系祖先是带领犹太人—准确
的说是希伯来人，出埃及的摩西(Mose)的哥哥亚伦(Aaron)，属12支派中的利未支派。
约翰的母亲是圣母玛利亚的姐姐、耶稣的姨妈以利沙伯(Elisabeth)，在《圣经》之外
经常被翻译成伊利莎白，或者说约翰之母、圣姨妈是第一位有据可查的伊利莎白。约翰
