28岁的中国姑娘Mengqi Ji 在美失踪接近1个月，大家都祈祷她早日平安归来。然而，
最不愿意看到的结局，还是出现了。
在11月6日最新的法庭听证会上，警方透露，没有证据证明Mengqi 还活着，并正式把
Mengqi失踪案定性为谋杀案，她的丈夫Joseph Elledge是主要嫌疑人。
多段Joseph和Mengqi争吵的录音，也在法庭上首次被公开，Joseph对Mengqi怒吼：“你
最好滚回中国”“我要把你埋在土里”。

10月25日警方逮捕Joseph Elledge时，他正准备和母亲带着婴儿Anna Elledge离开，所
以警方开出了高达50万美元的巨额保释金。

大专家关于PTPN12蛋白为新型抑癌基因的最新研究成果引起国际肿瘤界的普遍关注。
PTPN12是哈佛医学院发现的一个阳性蛋白分子。为了证明该蛋白分子与癌细胞的作
用关系，专家们用小核苷干扰技术抑制PTPN12表达，结果发现PTPN12表达水平降低会引
起正常细胞恶性生长，反之其过量表达可对恶性细胞的生长有一定的抑制作用。哈医大
医学遗传学教授周春水通过实验发现在PTPN12表达受到抑制时，乳腺癌的促癌基因EGFR
受体家族的络氨酸磷酸化有显著增强，而EGFR受体家族正是经过一系列络氨酸磷酸化而
被激活，产生促细胞癌变效应，从而周春水教授成功地确定了PTPN12是一种新型抑癌基
因。

记住了，在美国，seeing someone else不是去见别人，而是出轨的意思！！！如果去

，as 楼上mentioned, it is based on a natural miRNA structure. Both libraries
have been used extensively to generate lots of high-profile papers。
Generation II的library出的文章似乎要多一些，光 Elledge就好多篇 (such as
Synthetic lethality with RAS, cancer essential genes, tumor suppressor REST
and PTPN12, etc).

吉(Joe Elledge，24岁)间的对话录音，奈特表示，失踪30天的纪梦奇生还机会渺茫，
他并指控“艾立吉就是纪梦奇失踪的主嫌”。
艾立吉涉嫌虐婴案，6日在柏恩郡法庭针对被告律师提出的“50万保释金减免”动议举
行听证，奈特出乎意料的在法庭上，公开播放了几段艾立吉在纪梦奇失踪前的两人对话
录音。

also established their careers in Baylor or MD Anderson. To name a few,
Stephen Cohen, Stephen J. Elledge and Gerard Karsenty.
I think institutions in Texas have difficulties to compete with Harvard,
Columbia or Stanford on Senior PIs' recruitment. It would be hard to ask the
government to pay 10-20M for a single PI.
So, Baylor and MD Anderson lost many senior PIs in basic research. In the

另外，今年这五人当中，我有些吃惊elledge会选上，他非常有名（发了非常多的CNS,
现在也非常active)人极其聪明，是我认为可以称为genius的做生物的。但是他的贡献
比较散，在DNA damage field里的贡献也没有达到dominate的地位。我还读了他在cell
里写的 lasker story, 一直没有琢磨出他有哪一个major discovery达到lasker或诺奖
级别的（懂行的同学可以评评），我觉得这个奖更像是对他长期在这个领域的贡献的认
