i5分双核、四核。
四核i5跟i7差不太多。
双核i5跟i3也差不太多。
其实core 2 duo e8系列同频跟i3、双核i5也差不多。
从core 2到现在intel cpu架构没啥大变动，单核同频性能其实差不太多的，区别就在
核的数量、主频速度、缓存大小、有没有集成内存控制器。
现在除了atom这种netbook cpu，主流已经没有纯32位cpu了，都是64bit兼容32bit，你
可以装32位os也可以装64位os。64bit好处是支持内存大于4g，运行速度没啥区别。不
过32位操作系统也可以用各种特殊方式支持大于4g内存，不过单个进程还是不能占用大
于4g？ |

好，测试
效果和Intel Core i7 2600 4 CORE 差不多，但如果要运行多线程的话 AMD 1055T 比
i7-
2600要好。毕竟AMD-1055T是6 CORE。
但AMD-1055T只要$159块钱， 而i7 - 2600 299$. 性价很高。
适合绝大部分玩家。推荐大家使用。
温度还行，一般稳定在37摄氏度。我买的是大机箱，机箱里装了5把120mm 的风扇。然后装了16GB
内存， 1G 显卡， 如果要是运行大型游戏的话，推荐买COOLER MASTER去降温。
但是总共下来不超过550块钱。硬盘没用SSD。我不需要用快速的I/0.所以无所谓。 |

6-core/12-thread。 不过这个是IvyBridge-E的，不是Haswell.
我应该出手么？还是等明年2nd half的Haswell-E 8-core/16-thread? Budge倒是够，
就不知道值不值得等。别等了一年，又跳票到2015了。 |

Pentium或Celeron的。我通过测WEI和Hyper PI，发现第二代2350M比第三代3217U快，
第三代3217U比第四代4005U快。
对速度非常非常失望！
可能是因为今天英特尔处理器单核的速度接近极限了，而且我这几年买的笔记本电脑越
来越重视省电，用电池的话，2350M那台能用2小时，3217U那台能用3.5小时，而4005U
那台能用5小时。 |

Quantum”(量子工程)，但当时只是说它配备了双芯Fiji(可能会命名为Fury X2)，可
以稳定玩4K 60FPS游戏，或者VR虚拟现实游戏。
现在，我们终于了解到了它内部的秘密。
这个小东西分为上下两部分，上边是液冷循环系统，下边则是主板、处理器、显卡、内
存、硬盘等所有部件，而电源是额外独立的。由于无风扇，整个系统非常安静。
Fury X单芯卡的浮点性能就可以达到8.6TFlops，双芯即便频率稍低应该也能达到
17TFlops，这放在十来年前可以是一套超级计算机的规模。
AMD确认说，它的处理器并非自家FX，而是Intel Core i7，也非常坦诚地表示，他们认

so you actually want to know "who (which line) and when memory is allocated,
with core file only", and that makes sense.
i would say it's very difficult, with core only. if memory is corrupted, i
would say it's impossible. gdb does not know the memory allocation data
structure, you need to check glibc -- and you must make sure which glibc
your client used.

在不block的时候，core.async的实现和Go里面的goroutine的实现的几乎是一样的，都
是把状态park在适当的地方，等数据来了把context换过来，继续走。而且数据结构都
是追求lightweight, core.async用一个mutable array, goroutine用一个stack, 我没
看出来性能能够如何不同。
async没有什么magical的，就是个语言内部实现的context switch，不用OS的那一套而
已，这样可以更加lightweight。 |

As far as "Moore's law" is concern, 单核 is pretty much hitting the limit
due to physical constraints. New processes and material might push it
further but not too far.
There are advantages for dual-core and quad-core too. They can raise the
application processing speed by taking advantage of parallel processing. |

average at least.
The two upsides of core starts as compared to desk strats is that first you
are shielded from the high risks inherent to desks, and second it is much
less stressful, and the hours are considerably shorter. It's not uncommon to
work 9-7 in core.

首先，我不想做front desk quant。那种每天写code然后盯着屏幕看绩效的日子我自问
做不了。pay 我再高我也没兴
趣。如果是做asset management或者类似的还好些。这个position本来也就是
headhunter找上我，然后就去面了。
然后发现原来这个group做的东西还是和我research很接近的。有几个面我的人是我们
这行top prof的学生，我是看着
他paper长大的。他们非常关心也真懂我做的东西，问的问题也非常research，让我很
意外。有一个和我投了同一个
conference的paper，我们还交流了一下结果。确实不是做GS的core business，可能
pay的也不会同样。不过可能我
本来就不是立志做finance，所以还好。
其次，我的option选择是在这个group，和其他top IT firm SE positions之间选。不

modeling, it requires quantitative analysis skills; soft quant are
