only but I do not know of any that would sell comprehensive to you without
collision coverage...
fyi (in case someone else wants to know):
collision kicks in only if the damage to your car is due to collision (an
accident...) whereas comprehensive covers any damage to your car such as a
falling object, theft, etc.... |

被无保车辆伤害的人身险) 加上附加的Collision和Comprehensive；
而半保没有Collision和Comprehensive
全保如果租的车被偷，Amex作为primary，确实应该全保了。自己的全保用不上。
如果用的其他信用卡的免费保险，就是自己的车保先出钱，你需要付给车保公司
的deductible由信用卡公司付。
半保的话，因为没有Comprehensive，不保偷车一项，所以Amex或者其他信用卡的
保险就是primary，由他们出。 |

据陆媒《北京青年报》报道，4月27日，中央编译局发布了由中央文献翻译部翻译的中
央文献重要术语译文（2015年第一期），给中央文件中一些常见的政治术语提供了权威
的翻译。
例如，新常态（new normal）、硬骨头（tough issue）、中国制造2025（Made in
China 2025 strategy）、“两个一百年”奋斗目标（Two Centenary Goals）、“互联

虑要不要走保险。网上做功课查到：If you are carrying no-fault insurance in a
no-fault state, your insurance will pick up the bill for a door ding. If you
have full coverage, your comprehensive insurance will cover the door ding
for you; just remember door dings and dents are covered one-by-one with your
comprehensive insurance.

在美国洛杉矶华人聚集区之一的蒙特利公园市，一项眼科健康调查（CHES：CHINESE
AMERICAN EYE STUDY）正在华人社区中展开。
奇怪的眼科检查
在美国定居多年的华人王丁（化名）参与了这项调查，现在他开始为这个调查感到百思
不得其解：“说检查眼睛为何要获取我的血样和DNA？”。
这一切要从9月说起，王丁当时接到CHES工作人员的电话，征询他是否愿意参加这项眼
科健康调查计划。60多岁的王丁眼睛不太好，当他看到这样的免费服务，而且又是当地
一家有名的眼科医院检测，他满口答应下来。
在当地，眼科检查至少要收取65美元的挂号费，如果再加一些眼科治疗，费用可能在几
百美元甚至上千美元，王丁说：“CHES不仅不收费，而且还承诺25美元的车马费。”对
很多像王丁这样的普通华人来说，这是一个诱惑。
王丁在电话里答应检查后，调查组的工作人员来到王丁的家里，对王丁的年龄、遗传病

的样品。
女博士渐渐发现了问题，开始还以为是自己犯了错误，采取了一些措施防止出错，
甚至拿到未婚夫的实验室去做，总是有各种各样的问题。怀疑有人破坏，说给朋友，导
师，学校相关部门听，都劝她是不是自己多虑了，甚至认为是她自己工作不顺利，试图
归结于其他原因。
直到出现media上被洒酒精，并且接二连三的发生，终于正式由警方介入。女博士
被审问两次，测谎一次，才给实验室安装了两个摄像头，并且非常震惊（对于他们，对
于我肯定是理所当然）的发现实验室新来的，“和蔼可亲，友好，健谈”的印度博后
Vipul Bhrigu从冰柜中取出自己的样品，然后拿起擦桌子消毒用的酒精spray往里面一
阵乱喷。
庭审判了8.8K的罚款和6个月probation,40小时社区服务，给实验室设备、研究进

最近扁豆因故要参加一个儿童特殊教育的辅导课程。其申请材料中要求提供孩子的
智商测试结果。我们也是头一回听说有正儿八经的地方可以测智商，而不是网上那
种 IQ TEST。照着申请材料提供的单子打了几个电话，终于预约了一位注册临床心
理医生，开车离家大约20分钟。
测试当天，跟孩子说了个大概，让他到时候别太调皮。扁豆问：有什么奖赏吗？扁
豆妈说：晚上去 Todai 吃自助餐。三人开车到了医生的诊所，先填了些表格，医生
就把扁豆领进去了。然后就是大约两个小时的等待。期间，经常听到扁豆那“嘎嘎”
的笑声。看样子，他挺放松的。测试结束后，医生笑容可掬地把扁豆送出来，跟我
们说：下周取结果。开车回家的路上，我们问扁豆都测什么了？扁豆说：有游戏题，

Defending the Indefensible?

When I was watching Sorkin’s Newsroom, i loved its wit. But i didn’t
relate too strongly with the show, because i didn’t really think the US
media is as bad as Sorkin was trying to portray: jaded, sensationalism,
interested in the rating only, not interested in exposing the truth.
