千万不能去呀，极度受侮辱，想到那里的工作环境，大仓库一样，老板每天向冤魂一样
的盯视你的工作。。。。。中午吃饭就是每人端着自己的饭找个附近树阴，大伙都知道
休斯敦的天气叫那个热！这不合国内的窑工一样啊！这段痛苦的历史我铭记在心，他现
在就让我记住凡是不让去现场面试的，工资再高都不去。凡什么老印老台的都免谈！真
是个大粪坑啊！而且在临走时还扣你的工资，我一想到这家公司就掉眼泪，别人说男人
是不轻易流泪，长那么都不知道什么叫流泪的。

Civil/Mech is a little better.
If compared with CS, Civil/Mech are still much worse.
This year, energy related industries hire a lot mech guys. that
partly offset the layoff from automobile industry. |

一直都很懒，发现这里很少CIVIL的人来写经验，（难道是因为很好找工作？当然工资
低了点:-）随便写几点，让新人少点麻烦吧。我是FRESH MS AND 国内一点工作经验（
基本没用),找了1个月多一点，拿了2个OFFER，向过来人说的那样，运气是第一重要的。
1。这行基本上没有PHONE INTERVIEW，如果对方看你的简历合适，基本上直接ON-SITE
，小米打个电话，直接安排时间，而且都随你安排，呵呵，看到过几个小时PHONE
INTERVIEW的帖子，真是庆幸啊。
2。ON-SITE基本上也就1－2个小时了，而且没有HUMAN RESOURCES的人烦你，直接和
PRICIPAL ENGINEER OR MANAGER聊，而且一般也就1－2个人就可以了。简历过一遍，告
诉你一堆公司的BENEFITS，然后有些会考你点结构题目（主要就看你概念清不清楚，不
会做也没啥:-)，有些会带你在公司转转。很少人问BEHAVIOR QUESTIO |

My company has some books, but it's old version
plus the books are for PE structural.
Well, it's get complicated,
california don't have PE-structural exam,
so you have to take PE-civil to get PE license.
And PE-civil covers structural, geo, transportation etc, it's just too broad.
While in some other States,
like in Georgia, If you pass PE-structural Exam, which covers only
structural parts,you will get a PE license. Sound like more easy for a
structural major.

我去年才开始工作，第一分工作。我学GEOLOGY在学校MASTER毕业，在一个
ENVIRONMENTAL
CONSULTING公司作CONSULTANT，从最底层干起。工资低，40K不到，公司也很一般的小公
司，而且还一天不如一天。感觉有点没劲。我找工作时候也找了BIG NAME COMPANY，他们
都没有理我。看到这里有不少CIVIL 和ENVIRONEMTNAL ENGINEER。 我想问问大家，大公
司是不是工资一般怎样， 是不是特别难进去。这个行业的前景怎样，大家觉得回中国的

都是基本概念。除了Lindeburg的CERM，几乎不需要其他任何书。这次只有一个概念题
CERM里面没有查到，在Das的Fundamentals of Foundation Engineering里查到了(即使没
有，应该还是凭判断能答对。)
建议：
1. 打印CERM后面的INDEX并单独装订，这样在查找时比较省时省劲。
2. 把NCEES的FE SSupplied-reference Handbook中的Civil Engineering的章节搞懂。

我的基本情况：我在国内和美国都上过班，实际共四年。有EIT 无PE。civil
engineering 第三个 master’s degree刚毕业。
工作地区：Houston地区。希望结识Houston 及全国各地区的朋友。
salary：95k，刚接到。
谈点感想：
1. 想拿100k 不容易，需要有些真东西。实在没有就看文献。
2. 简历要写好，我的改了7遍。最初给我改简历的女士都烦了，后来索性就装作干
其他事情。但我无论如何都要再去。毕竟改简历是他们的工作。总之，学校career
center一定要好好利用。
3. 面试时间较短，感觉不好不重要。我这个面试两坏兼具。还有offer。很意外。
关键的应在对你的“thank you letter” 的反应。
4. 被小印歧视的事碰到太多了。这次屡次面试血淋淋的事实让我清醒。这个offer
是唯一一个面试的人里没小印的。相信大家明白我说的意思。我今后会能够帮老中就一
定帮老中。
5. 学校所在位置及其重要。奉劝新近来美国学习的同学学civil engi |

没什么，很多人没参加review,只要好好复习，照样能过。某些大牛总共复习几十个小
时，National, Seismic and Survey 三项全过。不是大牛的话，还是好好复习，多做
题(尤其是Survey)是正道。

2-Seismic:如果你是结构专业，平时的工作积累就差不多够了。
可以买Steve Hinger的Seismic Design Review Workbook看看，总结的很好。 我不知

刚在NCEES的网站上看了一下，发现有三种PE考试：
PE Civil
PE Structural I
PE Structural II
不知道该考哪一种？
也不知道PE Civil和PE Structural之间的区别，考那一种更好？
还有考哪一种最难，最有价值？

Structural I and II exams even III exams unless you had PE-civil license for
certain years. For California, it is 3 years from the date receiving your
PE-civil in CA. For Nevada, it is 2 years. So it is 时间上的问题. |

看LZ的意思，LZLD应该还是在读博士，如果He已经在美国有了一个Civil的硕士学位的
话，在加州还有一年工作经验（或者Teaching）就足够了。如果He在美国的工程学院
ABET认可的本科专业拿过CIVIL BACHELOR，应该有两年的工作经验就可以了（AGAIN，
我讲的是加州）！此外，我所说的工作经验应该都指在美国的！
如果LZLD以上两个学位都没有，我实在不认为Board会接受LZLD的申请。。。。
没别的意思，就是希望LZ别花冤钱。我一个师兄，美国ABET本科，1年另11个月的时候
寄的申请表，考前几个星期才收到Board通知不能考。。。钱已经被CASH了，政府的爷
爷奶奶们还说啥都不给退。。。。。。

如civil engineers,那么h1b被拒的可能性就很低. 那个civil enigneering
technician好像没要求本科以上学历...类似的还有drafter |
