People will understand that there are always genius out there, although we
are just average people.
My point is we need to encourage people to post here and everyone could have
opinion on it. One person's world is sometimes too small. That's the reason

跳了这么多公司，而且每个只待个半年，如何申请绿卡？ NIW？或者杰出人才申请的?
一般靠公司申请绿卡的,能在这么短时间内换这么多家公司吗？

much faster than people just do the same type of projects for 10 years.
with his three company exprience, i don't see it's a big deal. also he can
just do one type of projects.
experience is important, you are definate more valuable in our field. But
this is a very normal story. I work 2.5 years now and I am a project manager

the PM can at least support 10 full-time employees. Bu assuming $100 per
hour rate,working for 2080 hours per year.(5,000,000/2/100/2080=12). I don't
think our branch boss could do that, who in charge of 30+ people. I am
just wondering how much your PM could make?
I think people saying PM here could only be equivalent to your project
engineer.

If you are doing high rise building/bridges, you may not be able to start
even a small company even you have 40 years experience.
If you are in residenial field, you can do that quickly if you are good.
Most projects are small and most of them design fee is less than 10K but you
can do that in a few weeks.
If you keep working in big companys and doing big projects, your career is
fixed into Sr. Engineer and you won't get chance to start your own bu | t******o

If you are keeping doing same thing, or always same or similar part of one
project, even 30 years, no help for you to be a project engineer or project

thought it's for design/consulting work only.

My responsibility include writing proposal, pricing, creating work sheet,
scheduling, review design (I do design my self too) and seal, prebilling
review. most projects are $15k to $40k design fee. I am doing one that is
around $200k though.
I do have a phD and get PE before my PhD degree.

on test but not one experience. They don't need degree evaluation like other
states if you have a forien BS degree like most of us.

of experience or ability, do not send proposal, do not take the job. That is

Also, as I mentioned before, most projects are not big, just wood house or
small office building with steel/CMU/concrete,it is not that hard.
Liability is low.
You are thinking all structural engineering work like bridge or high rise
building. That is different story. Also nobody will trust small firm to do
