memory barrier有两种：
1. soft barrier: 阻止编译器乱优化。一般以volatile关键字的形式出现。编译后不
会产生对应的指令。有时候-O3出错，但是-O0对了，肯定是缺了soft barrier。
2. hard barrier: 阻止CPU乱执行。一般是以汇编指令/intrinsics的方式出现。改优
化级别不能解决hard barrier用错的问题。
外加一个独立的atomicity问题。
memory barrier和atomicity是两个不同的问题。比如a = a+ 1这个操作，涉及读/算/
写，即使用了memory barrier，在多线程之下还是会出问题。然而反过来，要保证
atomicity必须得用hard barrier。所以gcc的__sync_fetch_and_xxx系列指令全都有
hard barrier
的效果。std::atomic对于基本类型应该就是编译成__sync_fetch_and_xxx，复杂类型

故事：
晚上10点30分去机场接同事，就要到他家所在小区的时候被埋伏在路边的警察抓了。理
由是double yellow lines不能U turn，具体路况见附件图片。蓝色箭头是我行车路线
；红方块是警车潜伏处；红色条柱是现在路中间有的隔离杆。他给开的code 是21651b
，收到罚单是$405。
我想argue一下几点：
A、罚单code有误: 应该是21651a，而不是21651b。a要比b轻得多，估计能少罚一半。b
貌似是走到双向车道的逆行错误车道，而a2写的是不能U turn，所以应该是a。

换。这几天约了几个contractors 看看crawl space 的问题。我也亲自下到crawl
space，的确比较潮，concrete四周墙上有横着的一条水印样的，有些墙角有浸润样子
的。vapor barrier有些地方没有水，有些地方积水，但绝对不多，没形成水洼。
其中一个contractor着重强调漏水。直接估了个$2000装sump pump和在crawl space里
安装 drainage trench around perimeter with drain pipe。说要是不装，赶上下大
雨地下水位升高，再加上有些渗漏，crawl space就泡了。再加上insulation, 换vapor
barrier, clean up, total bill $5000+。
可是另一个contractor认为这种程度的漏水在我们这儿(seattle area, 一年有大半年

前面提到的让空调工作更加有效当然是原因之一，但不是主要的。
前房主把所有朝南的窗子都做了tint，这也是一部分抵抗太阳热能的因素。
主要的节能因素还是我们在家里使用了radiant barrier。
这个project持续了几个星期，开销~$600，但是效果也是相当明显的。
自从inspection的时候，检查员建议我们在insulation外面蒙上plastic sheet
因为那些一块块放在drywall外面的insulation（有年头了），有很大的缝隙。
热量从缝隙进入二楼，二楼一到下午就热得很，自然空调耗电高。
我们先用double bubble的radiant barrier把阁楼的门都贴上，
让阁楼的热气不会从薄薄的门板进到屋内；
然后按照inspector的建议，用radiant barrier把drywall外面的insulation蒙起来，
使得二楼墙面的手感温度降低了，室内温度明显降低。
卧室朝西是比较热一些，但热量主要是从窗子进来的，（通过比较表面温度），

possible situations.
1. buy Lami attached with Pad and moisture barreir, no need to buy anything
else
2. buy Lami attached with Pad, then buy moisture barrier
3. buy Lami without Pad, then buy Pad and Barrier
4. buy Lami without Pad, then buy Pad attached with Barrier
No need to think about it too much. Ideas are cheap. Just roll up your

如果是种成一排作为screen的竹子，应该是选择running bamboo，跑得快的那种。
这种竹子根系结构松散，过两年会自己跑着把screen补满。
如果需要一丛一丛的，有那种圆形大块空地，可以选根不是那么乱跑的。但是这种根系
像一个瓷实的大瘤子，不能指望它长成一长条屏障。
running bamboo种下去之前，一定要先装barrier。现在的barrier都号称能保十年以上
不担心窜根。但是，每年春天还是要检查，有从地面上跳过barrier出去的根，一定要
剪断。地底下倒是不用担心。因为barrier都会够深，running bamboo的根不会从底下
窜出去。
具体哪种running bamboo只有自己去nursery看了，花样太多，依照个人喜好而定吧。 |

Crowd control barrier 就是干这个的。每次游行集会，NYPD都是事先好多卡车来布置
barrier的。时报广场每年都是好多准备，barrier 到处都是，主要就是防踩踏的。
楼顶上的狙击手看见有人仍假钞也应该马上take down targets的……
国内也不是没发生过踩踏，但是警察就是不重视。布置crowd control barrier等都没
有成为标准police procedure. |
