w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 1 I'm a 100% forefoot runner now. feeling super efficient in my outing today.
I feel just as comfortable in a short stride, slow pace ultra mode, as in a
tempo mode. My feet only push backward, and I feel that no energy is being
wasted. I enjoyed being sneaky when I passed other runners on the road -- I
couldn't hear the sound of my own strides, and they probably didn't know I
was there until I passed them. Have yet to see how my marathon pace runs go
with my newly improved running form. |

I ran forefoot and midfoot landing 50/50 today. maybe my calf is still week |
w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 4 my footstrikes make more sound on the dirt trail because of the sand and
gravels. On asphalt the sound is nearly inaudible, when I control my pace
well. I haven't been wearing my 305 this week. I focus on making myself
invisible on the run, my breathing inaudible as well as my strides. Although
I'm wearing shoes, I visualize that I'm barefoot and run as if I'm not
wearing shoes at all.

welcome to the club, being a forefoot striker most of my life,
sharing some of my exp, forefoot landing means faster turnover rate,
intensifies the pressure at the nails, causing black nails all the time,
dont wanna scare ppl off, have to give up wearing sandals sometimes,
also more friction play there find it blisters are inevitable,
forefoot landing make you have strong calves, on the other hand make you
fatigue faster sometimes.

w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 7 Come to think about it, it took me about one year to make the complete
transition from a very bad case of heel striker to a forefoot striker. It
does take a while to build up the endurance of the calfs, but it is
definitely worth the effort.

64 mile run last weekend. Other than my ankle injury, my feet looked and
felt the same as before.

b***i 发帖数: 10018 | 9 good job! my experience is when running on sands and gravels, heelstriking
will waste more energy than front foot striking. So when i want to run on
dirt trails efficiently, i use front foot striking.

w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 18 well, there are hundreds of Tarahumara runners who participate in two-day
running events, and there are all forefoot strikers. If you have been a heel
striker for most of your life, it will take some time to make the
transition to forefoot strike. Your calfs will suffer at the beginning. I
started making this transition last summer and it wasn't until this month
that I have the confidence of doing all my runs on forefoot.
