设计制造的FY23
经过8年的设计制造，FY23在隐身性能、速度和航程上碾压F22；而后者在灵活性上更胜
一筹。结果国防部选择了F22。尼玛，在超视距时代的现在，难道不是隐身和航程比灵
活性更重要吗？感觉洛马在国防部有人，而Northrop/麦道被黑。
美帝国防部不要，不如放军接盘FY23吧。
看FY23的纪录片发现，这架飞机的chief scientist竟然是个老将yu-ping liu，看名字
拼法，还是大陆来的 |

点搓以外)

Obituary for Dr. Yu Ping Liu
Yu Ping Liu, longtime resident of Rolling Hills, passed away on February 18,
2018 at the age of 72. He shared 47 years of marriage with his loving wife
Chiling. He is also survived by his brother Yu Nan Liu (wife, Mary Liu), his
sister Yin-An Liu Tsai (husband, James Tsai), his daughter, Alice Liu
Jensen (husband, Christopher Jensen), his son Bryan Liu (wife, Kristy Liu),
and three grandsons, Garrett Liu Jensen, and Brandon and Lucas Liu.
Yu Ping was born on May 7, 1945 in Nanping, China, the first-born son of
Ching-Lee Liu and Ching- Kun Shieh. His family emigrated to Taiwan in 1946
shortly after his birth. Yu Ping graduated from National Cheng Kung
University in 1966 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He then
emigrated to the United States and earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
from the University of Michigan. Yu Ping became a lifelong Wolverine fan,
and also became a lifelong fan of Chiling, marrying her in Ann Arbor on June
12, 1971.
The newlyweds moved to Southern California in 1973 and settled in Palos
Verdes in 1976. Yu Ping started his career at Northrop Corporation in 1976,
quickly rising to become a Vice President in 1986. He received several
United States Patents while at Northrop relating to "stealth" technologies
that reduced the radar signature of military weapons for the United States
military. He was the co- inventor of the YF-23 Advanced Tactical Fighter and
the Tri-Service Stealthy Attack Missile and made significant contributions
to the Tacit Blue, the B-2 Stealth Bomber, the F-18E/F Super Hornet, and the
F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. Yu Ping also worked on the F-20 Tigershark, the
BQR-74 aerial target drone, the SR-71 Blackbird, and the DD(X)/DDG 1000
Guided Missile Destroyer. After thirty years, Yu Ping retired from Northrop
Grumman in 2006. He was elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical
and Electronics Engineers in 1997 and achieved the Life Fellow status in
2009. Yu Ping was recognized as a Pioneer of Stealth in 2000 and contributed
to the Pioneers of Stealth book published in 2017.
Yu Ping was passionate about adventure sports, introducing his family to
alpine skiing and whitewater rafting, a tradition his children and
grandchildren continue. Over Christmas 2017, he was proud to ski with his
grandsons in Big Sky, Montana. Yu Ping was an avid tennis player, golf
enthusiast, bridge partner, and ping pong player. He loved to travel and
visited all fifty states and 58 countries around the world. Yu Ping is
remembered by friends and family as having a great sense of adventure, the
ability to see the good in every situation, and a fun loving spirit.
Yu Ping will be remembered at a funeral service to be held in Green Hills
Memorial Chapel on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, tax
deductible memorial donations may be made to the University of Michigan
College of Engineering. Checks may be made payable to "University of
Michigan" with memo line notation "In memory of Dr. Yu Ping Liu" and mailed
