Did you ever wonder how editors decide who they should ask to review their
articles?
We all know that reviewing takes time and with the ever increasing number of
papers published each year, editors have been striving to find a better,
faster, more effective way to find and keep reviewers.
To address this pain point, a new feature - The Find Reviewers Tool - was
launched in EES (Elsevier’s online submission and peer review system) in
September 2010, making the search for qualified reviewers more
straightforward and simple than ever before.
What does it take to become a Reviewer?
You need to be an expert - It goes without saying that you need to be an
experienced researcher in a particular field of research to be considered by
an editor to review a manuscript.
You will need to have published papers in your area of expertise. Most
editors will check the h-index of a potential reviewer, before they consider
to invite them to review a paper.
If you are an early career researcher and are trying to build up some
experience to enable you to review papers, it is a good idea to ask your
professor or supervisor for the opportunity to assist them in reviewing
papers. In this way you will have a mentor who can guide you through the
necessary steps to make a good review.
Alternatively, as highlighted in issue 6, publishers in Elsevier have run
reviewer workshops and are beginning to support reviewer mentorship programs
, to help young researchers gain the necessary experience and knowledge to
give good reviews. A number of successful pilots for the reviewer mentorship
program, have generated much enthusiasm from participants and institutes
and currently work is being done to improve and expand the program. | F****x 发帖数: 517 | 2 没说啥呀
