WL is just part of fitness, maybe 20-25%, in order to be fit, you need
to have speed, endurance, agility, balance, flexibility and power.
WL is just one of the main way to increase power.
We have a separate board called weight-lifting, btw.

same kind of muscle.
But gymnasts need speed/muscle endurance/agility/flexibility to be a
very good gymnast.
It all depends on how much percentage do you spend your exercise
on weight lifting. I see a lot of serious BBers spend over 80% of their
time on weights, plus less than 20% on cardio, no HIIT, no flexibility
training, no cross training, agility training, balance training,
so their hardcore workout muscles look like rubbers for me.
At least for myself, i prefer seeing or prefer myself looks like
athletic muscular, not hardcore rubber kind of muscles.
As gentlemen, we not only need to look good with more muscle, but
more important, we need to develop more muscles which are useful in
life.
If purely developing more muscle just makes one heavier, move slower,
jump lower, more easily get injured, what's the point?

这个版上还真没几个是hard core muscle的
业余健身不吃药想练到move slow也挺难的。。。

weight training in the past year...

I totally agree with you. If you know me better, you would know I always
promote cross training. I run, I do yoga. Swimming was once my only winter
sport for many years. I played ball games seriously for many years,
basketball, volleyball and squash. I was a serious whitewater kayaker for
four years. I have been in body weight fitness training since middle school.
I'm doing more weightlifting for the last two years, but it never goes
over 50% of my training time.
But Mine muscle looks like that of a bodybuilder to you. That's why I am
asking why do you think muscles can be different.

i should say: move slower...
when i was 182lb, i found my move was a lot slower in basketball and
volleyball play comparing when i was 160 lb.

how do you feel when you play basketball, volleyball and squash with that
heavy body?
Your body does look like for me, close to a BB body, so would slow down
your sports activity, less agility and flexible too.
i am glad you are still doing Yoga, 'cause in my gym, only some Indians,
old white gentlemen beside women are pratising Yoga. It is hard to find
a guy like u in Yoga class.
