在市场差的时候一般很少有机会做新产品，所以pricing就可能没多少事，裁人的时候
危险性大些
valuation什么时候都得干活，所以相对安全些，但是干久了比较无聊

give you some ideas about pricing.
Pricing is more dynamic that you need to constantly talk to underwriting and
marketing about the renewals and track historical renewal resaults. A lot
of the times you are faced the pressure from the sales people and have to
defend your ground. IMO the work is interesting since you eventually got to
see the actual results from the decisions you made in the past. Technical?
To some extent yes (you need to constantly revise the pricing assumptions to steer the market performance toward the senior management goal) but imo all traditional actuarial work is not too technical.
The best way to answer your question is to pick up some books and read about
reserving and pricing. For my field, the book would be Group Insurance.

this could be part of the wiki leaks daily post.
anyway, in general , in gerenal , valuation is more strcutured and developed
, techinique skills are strongly demanded more in valuation role than
pricing role.
pricing on the other side could be a combo of art and sceince, what you are
charge for may not be your true cost. and there are a lot of external
influence.
certain settings, pricing could be very techique by using some of the most
advanced or creative way of pricing exisiting product.

发帖数: 687 | 8 两个都做过的来说一下：pricing听上去很酷 一开始做起来比较有趣 但是说技术含量
比valuation差很多。 pricing team一般缺了谁都能转， not true for valuation。
建议新人不要太挑方向 做得好都很有前途。 Right now majority of job openings
are for valuation, due to the weak market. |
