entry-level positions.Next higher level could be senior actuarial analyst or
actuarial associate. Some companies match credentialed actuaries with

1. I am not saying all actuaries in P/C insurance are happier than those in
Life insurance. It's just there are less competitions now for P/C actuaries
than Life. And on average, P/C actuaries are making more money as far as I
know. You can do very well in Life insurance, even better than most P/C
actuaries. But I am talking about average. 150k vs 70k might be too extreme
but you can see the difference on DWsimpon.

I am getting a change to work as Actuarial Analyst at the other company. I
was told that most actuary can only apply green card in EB3. No matter I can
transfer the PD or not, EB3 seems two years later than eb2. In such case, I
do not think I will apply for actuary position before I get my green card.

1. 是的。有没有必要，看你自己。俺有考试投他家也没理我，看来要不是我学校太烂
，要不是我离这个州太远。
2. 普遍来说actuary要比stat的起薪稍低一点，因为前者是面向college grad的，后者
大多是MS. 按照DWSIMPSON和ASA的salary survey来说，actuary比statistician的薪水
还是要高一些，年份越高越明显。不过也有人说，中国人由于语言文化的原因，在
actuary里算收入偏低的。自己判断吧。

ranking is NOT as important as the location of the school and the career/
networking service provided by the school for its actuarial science programs

Actuarial System Team那边走了一个人，原来也打算招一个人，所以共有两个空缺。
主要是做database management. candidate最好是experienced SAS programmer，CS
major最好, actuarial related experience will be a plus, but not necessary.
工资估计在$45-50k之间.不用考精算考试，但如果有兴趣，公司可以sponsor。工作优
点是压力不大，light work load，缺点是上升空间不大，不过公司提供内部换部门的
机会，进来以后可以再转。走了的那个analyst就去了finance department，所以还是

and the demand will not be high. I'd be cautious investing a year just
trying to get into it.
However, being an internal candidate is always helpful to get into ANY
actuarial role in large companies. IMO this is a stronger reason to take a
UW role.
A question you need to answer today as well as when you apply into an
actuarial role is, why are you going into health UW as an ASA with 7 years

解析SOA考试改革
近来不少网友对于SOA考试改革以及VEE等新规则十分关注。通过咨询SOA负责这方面的工
作人员以及学界的权威，不难得出这样的判断：一句话，这次改革只是形式上边的变动，
实质内容并没有真正的改动。
COURSE1改名叫COURSEP，减少了微积分的部分而增大了对概率的部分，但是教学大纲里边
要求看的书没有变化，所以要复习的内容没有任何变化。
COURSE2的改动是原COURSE1234中变化比较大的，把利息理论单独命题，改名叫做COURSE
FM，但是就利息理论的部分而言，要看的教科书和原来完全一致，还是THE THEORY OF
INTERST，所以要学习的知识仍然没有改动。而COURSE2里边剩余的公司财务和经济学变成
了VEE的内容（详细见后）
COURSE3几乎没有变化，改名字而已COURSE M，把ACTUARIAL MODELS应用于金融债券定价
方面的内容增加了一些。
COURSE4也变化不大，只是把其中计量经济学的部分单独作为VEE（详细见后），名字改成 |

的微积分，统计还有复变函数都不错。后悔没有学统计，不知道actuary考试难不难，
刚刚看了Exam I 的内容，好象不太难。不知道过几级之后就可以找工作了？有没有什
么书科参考？

top school + actuarial or maths program + Internship + Green Card?
If you don't have the above in your resume, then your situation is not
comparable with hers.
In reality, there are far more small fish jumping in the air, including me.
I found it very tough to get a job too, not to mention a good one. I've
heard that P/C companies are highly selective. Why don't you go with that
health insurance company first? At least, you get something actuarial |
