老印玩弄权术，不管你多不满，人家没犯法。你要不服，就起来跟他们斗。
头一条， visibility，自己要知道大到公司小到小组的方向，每个项目
和每个任务的轻重缓急，所需要的人力物力要大概有数。只有这样，才能
开始抢任务。才能开始做自己的pet project，还得能把自己做的东西卖出去
第二条，visibility，要让别人知道你的大概工作进度，尤其是在critical
path上的东西。更重要的是你遇到问题的时候，如果进度有可能受影响，一定
要让别人知道。squeaky wheel gets the oil. 任何一个milestone都要让人
知道你又有了一个 achievement.

现出来
说什么一个实验室派人去另外实验室验证实验，或者类似这种验证，难道没人关注，这
个验证实验的人谁来付钱嘛？
学生博后是做原创性工作，结果发表在学生期刊上，有visibility，所以学生和薄厚可
以忍受低工资来换取visibility（我们暂且不论这个交换是否划算）。让人重复别人实
验或者去别人实验室这种事情，如果你下意识是让学生和薄厚去，就是你的良心大大的
坏了，既想按照学生的标准给工资，又不给人发表paper的机会，学生不是人吗？凭什
么要去？
我也非常疑惑，重复别人的实验到底让谁做，如果花一周，可以让学生或者博后做做，
算是相互帮助，PI也要对做这种无聊事情的学生和薄厚表示感激，但是如果要花半年，
人家为什么要做？
总结一下，就是学生可以忍受一年2.5w工资的前提是有publication，有visibility，
谁要想用这点工资让人去做没有visibility的事情比如重复别人实验，就是良心大大的
坏了，学生应该立刻罢工 |

关于此期刊的官方刊文，貌似要火。。。

PRX创刊于2011年，是APS除PRL之外的另一个“综合类”期刊。三年过去了，PRX的尖刀
王牌队的定位现在在APS及整个物理届已经很明朗了,特色就是高选择小发文量，让文章
可见度更高，highly selective and small journals that can disseminate those
contributions broadly and offer them high visibility，说白了就是和Nature
physics路线是一模一样的。
这也是整个APS团队对PRX的定位。保持远远更高选择性much more selective than it
is already now，每年250篇 key individual articles from established fields，

小 SUV 试驾
我的要求是 小 + 可以开去滑雪，综合车版回复，主要是三个型号：Subaru Forester,
VW Tiguan, and Ford Escape
Tiguan 的 rear visibility 很差，不过这主要是我的开车习惯问题，除了趴车时，基
本不看侧镜，而是只看后视镜和盲点，所以喜欢大后窗。另外同去的朋友觉得它的
passenger seat 不舒服。除了 rear visibility 和那位乘客的抱怨，其他都挺好，开
着确实挺让人高兴。
Ford Escape，非常舒服。开在路上觉得什么都看得特别清楚。Hybrid model 还非常
安静。但是实在太难看了，而且那家 dealer 兼卖 Ford 和 Subaru, 玩命劝我 awd 就
应该上 Subaru, 我被说服了。
Forester ，没什么毛病，样子说不上很喜欢，但是最符合我的要求。
还试过 Acura RDX, Inifiniti EX35，同样是对我来说，有 rear visibility 的问题.

就注册去上课了，发现价格已经改了，是$19，

现在已经不能只是开着电脑耗时间了，我试着开机，但出去了3-4个小时，回来就要求
重新log in了。而且也不能直接参加final exam，必须答对各章的所有试题才能到达

学习材料中的图片、录像中的内容，所以还不得不点击看看，总共也需要不少时间。不

beautifully..."实在看不出来。到是u.s.news car rankings上给了X3 interior 7.8/
10看上去更靠谱。操控当然是很好，转小弯一点压力也没有。在所有试的车中大概也是
最好的。另外就是X3的visibility很不错，除了subaru好像还没有比它更好的,连MDX这
种大车都不行。windshield左下角那个投影的3D速度表有点annoying。方向盘在低速感
觉很重（听说这是宝马特点，3系更重，X3算好的;不喜欢）。最大的surprise是那个
automatic engine start/stop，实在是讨厌。听说可以disable，但考虑价钱，座位不
舒服，内饰不咋地，那就是个大deal breaker

处在创业的模式之中，公司成功与否才是最重要的。
说说我自己对求职的一点想法：
1）公司最重要，能在早期加入成功的公司比如FG，不管做什么项目今天都是个人的极
大成功。
2）公司里面不同组确实有可能地位不同，有些直接关系到revenue和Growth的组
visibility可能更高，获得的资源会比较多。但具体到每个人，在什么组和一个
Individual Contributor的关系就比较小。在Visibility高的组一样有很多low
performer，甚至可能因为关注的人多会更容易在组里造成比较competitive的环境。而
在相对来说Visibility低一点的组，如果个人发展的好，一样有很多的上升空间，至少
在Pinterest，升值，增加收入，refresh基本都和所在组关系不大。
有一个好的team的环境，有一个和自己合作比较好互相能信任的manager，再加上自己
的努力，就有了成功最重要的条件。当然，每个人有自己感兴趣的技术和工作的方式。

您老多次用“大部分老中”这样的字眼，可有数据支持“大部分”？
“...不喜欢提问，就是缺乏critical thinking...”。这个有点意思，我看您需要点
critical thinking before making any bold claims.
您是别的老中肚里的蛔虫？就一准知道老中们是明明自己有不同意见就是憋着不说？说
实在的，那种为了所谓的“visibility”非要发言说些个言之无物没有任何建设性的、
甚至是为了look cute和大家已经达成共识的意见较劲的人，大家也都能看出来，这样
的visibility没什么可艳羡的。您老这多年的酱缸经验就不要拿出来误导别人了。
看起来您也是搞技术的人，技术的东西说到底还是做出来的。Don't get me wrong. 在
团队中，Communication绝对重要，但是把communication的重要性trivialize成为了
visibility语不惊人死不休就不那么有趣了。 |

发帖数: 83 | 47 聪明的老板往上爬的时候会顶一两个上去，他可能这边欠着你的，完了别的方面给你好
处。我的建议是对没有visibility这件事情装傻，他那个级别的比你清楚他有没有给你
visibility。何况如果他不给你credit，说明这个对他很重要，他心里知道欠你的。但
是你要让他知道你不是傻冒一个，而是非常有事业心想往上爬的。比如说你给他搞个1
：1，说你想往上一级，顶了上面那个空缺，问他你怎么做可以上。如果你觉得他不帮
你，年底不替你争的话，就不要八心八肝的给他干了，别表现太明显，要若即若离。有
的老板如果稍微有点怀疑你没卖命但又需要你的话，会给你点甜处。
千万不要无意间泄露出你对他这方面不满，他心里明镜似的，你一点就燃。他知道你看
到他的要害，将来更不会帮你了。如果你非要说，不要用不经意的方式说，比如email
说：“can you copy me in the original email? I would like to have the
opportunity to discuss directly with other teams." 而是搞个1：1，谈自己职业

（junior）,其他3个没有，我是其中一个没有direct report且title最低。而且自己只
有两个不入流产品，大部分时间是在帮其他5个senior做事，做的事情一部分跟那些
junior做的差不多。但有些项目，我经常要叫junior跟我一起做，这时有的senior全扔
给我，有的senior抢着领导我们两个人。 我有时会鼓励他们直接跟其他的senior做，
提高visibility,但我老板不让，说他们不行，他们做的事情要我把控质量。有些
junior又不鸟你，以为自己厉害的很，其实我也懒的管，管了就是其他senior手中的一
把枪，自己也没啥visibility. 那些senior大多就把我当个junior吧，但如果摆起
senior资格来，不好好跟他们做事，不知道会在我老板面前告了我多少黑状。
我跟老板也反映了需要提高visibility,没有结果，他干脆不大管我了。最近想跟老板
再说说这些问题，不知道如何跟他讲比较好，既不得罪他老人家，有不得罪其他同事。 |

Following more snow Thursday-Saturday, most ascents failed on Saturday and
Sunday. By Monday Challenger was climbable. From Sunday on every day has
been sunny and warm (55ish at 14k).
As of yesterday:
* North of Mount Adams, no snow at all is visible on the Sangre 13ers.
* From Adams down to Crestone Needle, there is some snow still on north
