Just add some comments:
1) The difference between CTT and IRT also can be detected from their basic
models/functions: since under CTT, X=T+E. What CTT takes care of is a summary

do better than the "oracle" in the above example, i.e. it is possible that
you achieve error rate < 1/3 if you know F. When you don't know F, you can
still beat 1/3, although there may not be an guarantee.
Consider again that if F is given, then you can use the following procedure:
After you observe X1=a, compute F(a). If F(a) < 0.5, choose X1, and
otherwise choose X2. What is the error rate of this approach? It turns o |

s*y 发帖数: 124 | 16 Thank you for your reply. I thought about it last night and worked out a
similar solution as well:
error rate=E[G(X1)*(1-F(X1))+(1-G(X1))*F(X1)], one thing to note here is
that the expectation is taken on F. then:
error rate = Integral {F(X)dF(X)}+Integral{G(X)dF(X)-2*G(X)*F(X)dF(X)}
=0.5+Integral{(G(X)*d(F(X)-F(X)^2)}
=0.5-Integral{(F(X)-F(X)^2)dG(X)}
If G is N(0,1) and F(X) is not some weired point distribution, we always
have:
error rate <0.5.
