我的Teaching Presentation的内容是在去的几天前给系头打电话确定的，（是我主动
打过去的，）他们给了大概的一个课题。设备什么的问清楚了，也就是个可以连电脑的
projector。要问一下教室有多大，大概会有多少人来，老师们来不来，学生的年级，
有没有麦克风。
我问了一些人，其中有个美国朋友teaching很强，给了一些挺好建议。
一般开头以提出问题吸引学生引发兴趣为主，我在网上找了个4分钟左右的video短片，
和一些news。
过程中，美国朋友让我多互动，甚至可以把学生分组讨论什么的，我没敢，英语没有他
好，怕控制不住，只是准备了一些问题和一两个笑话。一紧张笑话没用上。问问题简单
些比较好，一方面这样才有人愿意回答，不会冷场，而且答对了他们也有成就感。
结尾回顾一下，总结一下，再用一些问题来test一下学生是不是都懂了。准备了个笑话
，用上了，哈哈一笑就结束了，效果好象不错。
给我的时间是50分钟。我提前5，6分钟结束了，让学生问问题。

我也挺喜欢teaching school的，觉得压力小，似乎下了班就可以enjoy family time,
周末也不用惦记着paper改没改好，funding申请怎么写；做research, 写proposal,真
不是我的喜好和擅长.当然，我是个没什么大追求/野心的人，希望读完phd, 差不多就
该开始enjoy life了。

我感觉你只要讲清
楚就行了. 因为我现在都target teaching school, 又有好几年经验，我
觉得
1.既然你从没教过课，赶快去听你们系最好的老师上一堂课
2. 准备好几个问题，interaction with students is important，决不要滔
滔不绝
3. 放慢语速，略有停顿，问do you have any question? 环视下学生
4. 避免说you know you know,或者嗯呀啊呀的，多用副词，想想
slide and slides 之间
怎么链接
5. 看你什么学科，能挂上点实际例子最好
6. 准备好 1-2个笑话以免冷场
7. Be very confident !!! |

。上了三年job
market了。当然我们专业不是理工科，所以不好找。
她就是publication和teaching都很不错的，但是research不是特别特别牛（也是因为
market水
涨船高竞争太激烈，其实她还是很牛的）。结果research的学校觉得她research还不够
牛，她在好几
个面试的学校都不是top1，然后top还接受offer了。teaching的学校觉得她pub太多了
，一看就是
想做research的，已经有两个学校说明了因为这个原因拒了她，给了pub没有她多的人
offer。她很郁
闷。
另外两个朋友，也有类似经历（只不过没有学校跟他们明说），今年也没有找到教职。

专业方向, 感觉那时候自己１对１
的时候没发挥好,譬如一个问到teaching assessment的时候就把俺给绕歪了,anyway
(还有那次是俺一发简历,对方就约
onsite了, 因为专业非常对口)
转年又到三月份,他们又有一个非常类似的位子出来了,不同专业,不过俺基本也对得上,
当然马上也发简历过去了,大同小异
的,不过这次发了好几个礼拜,毫无音讯,俺都以为没戏了,突然这个礼拜来电话约onsite
(他们３/３０就截止了), 是同一个
dicector,.....明天去谈....也是１对１.....去年去的时候先和dirctor谈, 然后和
别的faculty, 这次没提和director谈(因为
去年底谈过了??)......就直接是其他faculty(当然是新的方向的).... 现在不知道情
况如何? 俺是备胎??
还有一个变化就是去年俺离得还比较远(还是外州), 这次俺刚搬到很近的地方(州内,
开车２０分钟而已).....也许这个有关
系?

If A gives a decent salary and B provides a bit more (10-15k more), but
B's area housing price is almost double of that in A's area, and it's a
lot easier to get tenure in A but with heavier teaching load, what do you

发帖数: 757 | 46 teaching school的onsite要做teaching presentation（40-50分钟）。Chair说他们prefer我讲一节关于A的课，如果我觉得A课uncomfortable ，也可以讲关于B的课。还可以把这个课分成两部分，A和B各讲一半。
我对A课不熟悉，对B课很熟悉。但是Chair希望我讲关于A的。我有三种打算：
1.讲A.虽然自己不熟悉，但是这是Chair prefer的。
2.讲B.因为自己熟悉。
3.A和B各一半。既可以考虑Chair的爱好，也可以发挥自己的长处。但是一半只有20多
分钟，似乎太短。

mments just mean "you need to improve your teaching".
