think KC's achievements on synthesis are the outcome of piling up dollars
over dollars and men over men. Well, personally, I don't agree to such
comment. Hopefully, 炸药奖 should give another chance to total synthesis
chemists in the near future. |

教）。有相当一部分方法学的发现，都是全合成的side project,至少从这一点看，全
合成还是有
积极意义的，当然这年头，这种发现貌似是越来越少了。其实给不给奖，跟咱也没啥关
系，全合成的

发帖数: 2041 | 38 Speak like true chemist. Do you know what's the easiest way to get taxol
right now. Plant cell fermentation produce large amount of taxol now and
cheap. Not from total synthesis.
Cortisol synthesis was done in 30+ steps to add that hydroxy (oxygen on the
ring). 1 week after the JACS publication, A biology team did it in one step
by simply feeding the steroid backbone starting material to a bacteria. |

acid resin conjugated to the resin for head to tail ligation. Your sequence
should be okay, but remember that longer you make it, the harder it will be.
Do not add proline to the sequence, the solid phase synthesis hates proline
and you will likely to fail the elongation after the proline residue.
However, if you like challenge, feel free to do so. The final cycolization

don't know about polymers but Intel and semiconductor industry do hire them.
For the job market, total synthesis probably just slightly better than
polymers. As a science, even Baran is saying total synthesis is close to
ART than SCIENCE these days. |
