However, the old house has a back staircase, taking up 80 square feet space/
unit, 160 square feet in total. The staircase is right next to kitchens
that is quite big.
The idea is to convert the staircase space to new kitchens so that the
current kitchens can be converted to a living room/unit.

洲埃及觉得花钱更多而且签证还没搞，去巴哈马佛罗里达又觉得沙滩看够了，最后还是
决定再访美国西部, 至少grand staircase 以及reflection canyon对我还是有些吸引
力， 而且去reflection canyon也算是小小的体验一次backpacking. 大体几个地方是
： racetrack valley, bisti wilderness, grand staircase national monument(
GSNM)，hole in the rock, reflection canyon 以及 angels landing, 计划中的
cathedral valley，因为路上积雪没有去成。
Death valley national park很早以前来过，但那时没时间去racetrack valley, 所以
这次就给补上了，我对大自然一些奇特的现象总是充满兴趣，这里会“走路”的石头让

果代价太高，还想减小5%左右呢。
楼上那个独立卫生间的是孩子的房间，不是双主卧。
卧室肯定需要4个。Study有用，还可以做客房，做好有。
早餐是吃饭的地方，肯定要。
这样一楼可以减少的房间是dining area，其实现在打算用来布置当guest living用.
如果考虑去掉那个空间。厨房下移动。扩大早餐当真dining多用。
二楼呢，可以touch的是family area 和 gameroom,如果孩子大点，teenage朋友过来玩
，总得有个活动的空间。那个family是剩下的空间，为的是每个卧室利用外墙，外墙对
齐楼下的结果。
如果考虑开放，楼上和楼下的衔接，有很多考虑, 围绕foyer和staircase应该可以有些
设计。当初最困难的是楼梯位置的安排，这样的选择可以把到二楼顶的foyer及
staircase 上到顶的20ft高度在一起，还有living看到楼梯上楼的那一段railing，应
该很open。

这一天安排的比较紧，要兼顾2个国家公园（以Bryce Canyon为主），又要赶山路。
Bryce canyon在整段旅程中是个亮点，标志性的红色石林嵌在皑皑白雪中，庄重而不失
可爱。极目眺望可见远方的雪原，更烘托出红色的鲜艳。这是个可以单凭驾车走走停停
就可以看个大概的地方，所有的景点都集中在峡谷东侧。我们先趁着日色柔和的机会拜
访了Sunrise point，Sunset point，Inspiration point和Bryce point。这些景点沿
着峡谷的边缘海拔依次升高，到Bryce point已是高处不胜寒。从停车的地方到
Inspiration point的观景台路程最长，30度的陡坡埋藏在厚厚的冰雪之下，来回都走

国家公园。由于是携老人共游，且冬天日照时间短，计划不能安排得过于aggressive。
本版已有不少关于Grand Circle的大作，我把行程和简单的游记贴在这里(楼下），也
给有志冬天游Utah或者带父母的同仁做个参考。

Antelope canyon, The wave, Zion np, Bryce canyon 以及 Grand-staircase

梁警官在纽约走火杀死黑人一事件值得警惕。
今天才看到华人新闻说验尸官认定那个黑人死于凶杀，homicide。这个homicide意味故
意杀死，不是意外杀死。黑人已经有游行，要求逮捕起诉梁。
我们大多数华人还只是为梁警官不平说是白人警察枪打死黑人就无罪，黄人警官打死就
