在148号线上的 Cedar Breaks National Monument。
Cedar Breaks National Monument 海拔一万英尺。一路上都是高原景色，空气异常清
新透彻。148号线在冬天是封路的。

中途吃过午餐后，返回停车场，继续沿着148号线向北，然后上143向东，经过小镇
Panguitch不久，路过另一个景点，12号公路上的 Red Canyon。

住的旅馆在 Cannonville。离这不远的地方有个州立公园 Kodachrome Basin。所以就
在太阳落山之前过去看了看。里面有很多人露营。风景很独特。时间有限，仅仅开车转
了转。

Slide 的 Miter Saw 就很好用了。我们刚把 Carpet 的 Staircase 换成了 Hardwood

把家里的 Carpet Staircase 换成了 Hardwood 的。
订做的 Prefinished Treads 和 Riser。本想图快，找了个 Contractor 来安装，结果
毁了一半 Treads 上的漆面，这个 Contractor 只好重新 Sand，重新 Stain，结果也
没省时间，反而弄得很不方便。有几级楼梯没 Stain 好，我老只好自己再 Sand 和
Stain。还不如当初自己做呢。于是呢，楼梯栏杆，就都自己做了。楼梯扶手还是用的
以前的，栏杆和柱子都换新的了。 |

发帖数: 1153 | 15 三文河有几项规定，比如leader的长度不能超国4尺，钩上必须有饵。海绵的意思就是
满足第二条。鱼基本上是不会主动咬的。即使如此，还是把还海绵剪圆点，就挂钩弯上
。海绵的种类可能比较重要，能在水底的上面一尺左右比较好。那里的渔具店应该有卖。
其实最重要的是钓点，快水的下部比较好。能去DLR最好，不过在那里用这种方法会被
鄙视。要不然就去那个叫做staircase的地方，快水沿着崖壁，人很多，不容易找到位
子。周末人多，争取周间去。 |

100多人参加, 感觉象是游Disney, 2/3 of them in our boat didn't have any
rafting experience. 但从没觉的他们有任何安全的担忧. 其中一对还是在度蜜月.
两艘船翻过, 也有惊无险. 我也在第一个四级瀑布被甩入水中. Guide 一再强调三件
宝: helmet, life jacket and paddle. 现在搞不明白商业漂流到底有多危险了.

After a long drive by logging roads dodging Moose, put-in at McKay station.
There is usually dependable flow here all Summer. The section from the dam
to Chewonki's Big Eddy (about 2 miles) is considered a class V run. Just
below the put-in is Exterminator hole. At normal summer levels punch the

发帖数: 277 | 22 wave和buckskin之后的下一站是escalante UT，说起这个名字的时候连久住UT的老夫妇
都犹豫了一下，可能的确太偏僻了，从这里可以到达的地方其实很多，它位于grand
staircase -escalante national momument的中心，周围遍布一些state park。而我选
择这里的目的是因为去年看到的一个网站，wildbackpacker.com，里边列举了5个不在
national park系统中的trail，相比来讲，少人问津，但又风景独特。
kalalau trail留给多年以后的夏威夷。
Mt. Whitney和Supai都是我最难忘的hiking经历，所以剩下两个应该也和我胃口，一个
是buckskin，最后一个就是coyote gulch.
coyote gulch在60mile长的hole in the wall road上，全程unpave，起点就在
escalante。最好的计划是两到三天。
长话短说，这次的计划失败了，我的2wd malibu开到30mi时已经下午三点，前两天的迷

National Monument的Neon Canyon, 为Canyoneering的天堂，科罗拉多高原控一生必到。
该路线来回１０迈左右，上升1440feet, ACA Rating为3B III, 和Zion的Subway类似,
风景绝美，难度不大，为摄影师喜闻乐见。当阳光照射的时候，岩壁一片金红，整个石
洞犹如一个金色大教堂，因此得名。先上两张定妆照
太阳升起的地方，差不多就是Neno canyon的入口。我们要从沙漠里cross country四五
迈到达那里。朝着远方一个圆顶巨石走，出了这片高原就会看到山谷里一片绿洲，
Escalante river 蜿蜒而过
下了高原，淌过Escalante river进入了Neno canyon，现在水位不高，河水清清的，浅
浅的，随意的流淌着，脱了鞋可以轻松地过河。如果在雨季，可就不是这样了
过了河在一棵倒伏大树处开始上山，俯瞰峡谷，

包括Catskills里面著名的第三Black Dome、第四Blackhead、第五ThomasCole，以及第
36Camels Hump。
路线：Black Dome trailhead出发，经Escarpment Trail过Blackhead，走到overlook
后折返，Blackhead山顶转往西去到Camels Hump，再折返。在Black Dome和Black Head
之间的垭口下山。最后数据是 9.5 miles / 3500 ft eg。
原定路线是过Camel's Hump再往下走到西边的trailhead，回来的时候再走上Blackhead
, 原定路线大概可以达到12 miles / 5000 ft eg。
出发晚了，中午过才到TH，匆忙中又忘了头灯不想solo摸黑下山。
绝大多数人只走Blackhead，这样一个loop大概是4 mi / 1800 ft。我的计划对

发帖数: 124 | 28 从Bryce Canyon到Capitol Reef的Ut-12穿过Grand Staircase-Escalante National
Monument和Dixie National Forest，是著名的景观公路。小车在无休止的上山，下山
和弯道中前行，左右有时是石壁，更多的时候是山谷，色彩多变，景色很好看。间或在
路边有观景台，可以俯瞰广阔的山谷，瞭望公路在山谷中蜿蜒远去。有一小段公路两侧
都是山谷，公路就建在山脊上。走走停停，感觉像逛一个national park。
Ut-12上开了大约两小时，拐上Ut-24，没多远就进入Capitol Reef。这里也是红色岩石
的世界。沿Ut-24前行，两侧不远处时不时出现耸立的红色石墙，下半截埋在乱石堆中
。和Zion，Bryce相比，感觉更加荒凉沧桑。LD总结说就象把Bryce的石柱打碎了放在这
里。在到Visitor Center之前，最著名的两个景点是 Chimney Rock和The Castle。前
者是一面弧形的墙，上面顶着一个烟囱一样的尖尖。后者远远看着真象一个城堡，不过
没有立体感，如同一个剪影。

发帖数: 382 | 30 这次旅行原计划探访两个Hoodoo群：Wahweap Hoodoos和Rimrocks。Toadstool Hoodoo
则是Rimrocks中的领军Hoodoo。这两个Hoodoo群都位于Page和Kanab之间，离The Wave
不远，都属于Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument，都默默无闻矗立荒野
，却又都是各种摄影作品和宾馆装饰照片中的常客。不同的是，Wahweap Hoodoos呈白
色，日出时光线最好；Toadstool Hoodoo呈红色，日落时景色最佳。两大Hoodoo交相辉
映，共同激励着我们这次西南之梦。
去Wahweap Hoodoos有两条路：一条要腿走，往返八英里；另一条单程只走一英里，但
要开车绕远路。喜欢偷懒的我们自然是选择后一条路。不料前一天刚下完雨后的路况不
佳，我们被迫放弃Wahweap Hoodoos。本次旅行最初的这场雨，虽然给Zion, Lake
Powell, The Wave和Rimrocks带来了最美妙的光线，景色和气温，但是也阻挠了我们的

发帖数: 18660 | 44 很多bahamas的cruise都停Nassau (说起来Nassau就靠吃cruises也好多收入了阿)
刚去了一次，分享下经验。
(对一些人可能觉得有些破烂，没有什么意思，但是有些人，总觉得异邦
总有些特色，不管是好的，还是不那么好的)
Nassau是bahamas的首府，以前的英国殖民地。现在也算英联邦。
Nassau下船，可以去玩Atlantis resort, Paradis Island.也有snorkeling的地方。
但是我觉得，走走downtown也不错。体验一下移民地的风情。而且完全不用花什么钱，
适合我省钱的原则。
Nassau cruises其实就停在downtown.所以我觉得如果有点走的能力，完全可以自己走
着tour.
如果在当地租车，也可以，只是觉得没必要。(大概20左右一个人?但是其实时间很紧)
我碰巧在cruise上图书馆看到本书，于是根据路线走了一下。觉得还可以。
在船上，最好装些冰水，一些水果snack什么的。当然买也不贵。
出来船以后，到terminal可以免费上个网，然后出来路过招揽顾客的本地人。

我冲顶的时候看见这么多人里，老人也好teenager也好，只有三个人被迫中途下山。
如果想从体力上准备的话，跑步/游泳这些都没大用。
主要是锻炼能走，都不用快走，慢速就好。
我觉得最管用的是在gym里练踩登山机/踩staircase。每周至少两次，每次至少1-2个小
时。
当然实地找一个山爬爬来锻炼是最好了。
就像向导第一天就说的，it's not a competition, find your own pace, however
slow it is.走得再慢，只要能走都能到。

发帖数: 188 | 49 太太赶了，把moab那段去掉，多出来的时间多玩玩Bryce, Zion, 还可以去Grand
Staircase National Monument还有Page周围的national monument (rainbow bridge).
带小孩不能早出晚归，计划还是宽松点好。 |
