诚心请教一下西雅图，尤其是amazon的xdjm。最近在和amazon谈一个机会。一个senior
manager position。对方声称加上股票奖金啥的，package可以到high $200k. 小弟我
现在在中西部一个老大僵死的retailer做个director.收入不到200k. 小弟现在有14年
工作经验。director level也做了6年，国内top2，美国top5MBA背景。请教大家：
1. Amazon 的senior manager 的职位的含金量是不是很高？是不是值得放弃现在的
director title来做这个？对于career development是不是明智？

两个，有一个很好，知识问题，白板coding都很好。最终要了。另一个知识有欠缺，白
板coding也有些问题， 没要。
这个月要招一Senior Software Engineer，面了三个，没一个成的。不但不成，大家合
议时简直把他们看成joke.三人都有15-25年经验。都在大IT公司做过，有的人10年以上
大公司经验，说起做过的项目，天花乱坠。Manager坚持要面他们，因为easy to
communicate，所以could be best candidate. 可一问具体技术细节，就露馅儿。比如
有一人说linux熟， 问bash script要executable,第一行怎么写。不会。又比如，一人
说python熟，问如何comment out a block of code,不会，显然没写过。
公司对Senior Software Engineer coding水平要求更高，要能指导new graduate.所以

度肯定不如经过长期准备的学生。
白板毕竟是考试。对专门的考试，一般人是要特地准备才得好成绩的。
面世SENIOR，要看思路的清晰，问题／构架的理解深度。
当然象GOOGLE那样的，对SENIOR也要PERFECT白板，就是为了刷人，毕竟申请人太多了
。因此也有很多更合格的人也因此被刷掉了。就象高考，很多考题是以刷人为目的的，
不是以水平为目的的。因为很难有很好的法子，在短时间真正辨别一个面试者的相对好

你们自己招人弄得非常不友好，可以说根本就没有想招senior engineer的意愿，因此
才用这种问题来恶心人。
我写shell script写了20年了。你问我shebang怎么写，还真把我问到了，因为不同系
统还真不一样，不同要求还可以传入参数。写shell的老手谁没有template? 谁平时真
正关心过shebang,除非出问题的时候。不去看看自己的template,我真不知道怎么写。
python我也是老经验了，怎么block comment我真不知道，平时没怎么用过，用不同的
编辑环境显然答案也不同。
真的，放10年前，你们这种问题问出来，如果是我，直接摔桌子走人，如果是熟人介绍
去的，你看我不骂他个狗血喷头。你们面的几个没骂娘算他们涵养好了。

俺以前的公司， staff是fresh master， 然后是advisory ， 然后是senior， senior
上面还有2级到头
对于google， 俺的理解
level 3: fresh bachelor
level 4：fresh master， or with some experience, or some phd
level 5: 牛phd，or 5-10+ experience
level 6: staff 牛人
level 7：senior staff 属于一方诸侯，只能仰望
level 8+： 传说中人，没见过，哈哈
不过也有列外了，同组一个8年工作经验，自以为很牛的美国人，只是level 3. 平心而
论，水平确实不错，应该level4， 是被狠狠的low ball了
对比一下google manager级别
level 5：一线
level 6: 二线
level 7: director

部的系统显示的是Sr PE. 但是发offer的时候无论是不是senior的engineer统一称之为
engineer，并没有给senior的title的先例， 她还说Sr的title可以写在简历里，也可
以放在linkedin上，并且公司鼓励大家这么做，请问这种情况正常吗？ 我已经收到纸

On site 一共五轮。
1. 刚毕业的junior developer， 考的都是经典题。 可惜一道我居然没顾上复习，另
外一个也做得不熟练，小姑娘面露不愉快。这个是不应该丢分的地方，确实需要改善。
这也是刷题的意义所在-基础。
2. 技术经理，问的是她们以前项目中遇到的一个技术问题。当然她已经解决了，想看
看我的思路。这个问题如果没有接触过实际project，当过核心码工，设计过schema，
或者起码努力向架构师发展的话，不好答。
3. 资深码工，吃饭，聊天。想想看和老江湖如何有话可说？如何让人喜欢你？你真心
关注码工这个行业吗？还是只想弄个饭碗？
4. 又一个技术经理，问的是他以前项目中遇到的一个技术问题。一样已经解决了，想
看看我的思路。这个问题如果不对解决高流量的网站的性能问题有一些原则性的理解的
话，不好答。
5. HM, 以前电面问过一些经典题目，见面主要就是聊天。有意思的是，如果你能向他

前是senior。如果组里面junior很多的话会明确要senior来领一下。PhD找一个
research的工作比较合适。如果应聘普通engineer可能吃亏。因为是PhD所以级别要高
一些，但是没有industry experience所以入职以后和bachelor或者MS比没有明显优势
。级别高的结果是在performance review的时候要去和有一两年工作经验的人排队。 |

果用工作中的方法直接C#用LINQ。只是现在INTERVIEW大家用不同的东西，为了避免
CONFUSION，自己就只用JAVA，而且一般约定俗成现写CODE，不用库函数。结果写到一
半，想不起用JAVA MAP ENTRY去SORT BY VALUE. 毕竟没有用JAVA天天做项目，JAVA用
法只是来至刷的那一百道题。后来只给了2/3的CODE。
INTERVIEW结束，DIRECTOR说让RECRUITER跟我联系下一步，如果有什么问题可以问
RECRUITER。我问那你给我过了？他说过了给我一个ONSITE.
很快RECRUITER联络说考虑SOFTWARE ENGINEER II POSITION. 其实他们TWO的工资比我
原来SENIOR的职位都多。只是觉得还没去工作，这就不满意，去上班后会不会随时开人
？不过还是感谢DIRECTOR不是教条的人，没有因为没答上题就全盘否定。

发帖数: 31 | 50 请教过来人，找公司的senior scientist之类的senior职位publication重要吗。
觉得publication也是自己的achivement，觉得应该列，但是如果公司不感兴趣
publication，那可占了很大一块地方呢，人家不感兴趣，还不如删掉。
以前在国内找工作，公司的工作简历上从不提文章。
或者是不是要根据职位的title定，比如scientist就列publication，如果是engineer
就不列。
