本人住在非Atlanta地区的Deep South。去纽约住了9天，感想颇多啊！
到了纽约，最大的感觉就是像回到了国内。人多，要靠公共交通，市容脏乱差。以前感
觉海归版的讨论关于国内和美国待遇的对比是很无聊的，因为当时觉得中国和美国是两
个完全不同的style，喜欢哪种就选择哪种就是了，没必要讨论待遇。而到了纽约，才
发现，原来纽约和国内是如此的像，至于选择在纽约还是海归，待遇几乎成了唯一的标
准（待遇指相对于物价水平的工资高低）。
大家不要骂我，纽约的生活质量比起deep south来还是低不少的。先说大家能上网看到
的，就是房价。今天刚刚看到一个坑，说纽约附近Jersey City那里一个2br的apt就要
50k-70K，这个钱在deep south各州都能买很大的独栋house了，还不是很差的区。再说

晚上去游行了。。。然后饿了。。。然后拉面了。。。
最近太差劲了。。。

晚上：煮西兰花半个，鸡肉一块，鸡蛋一个，葡萄若干

front trail 跑到humber river trail 北上, 最后沿着finch ave 往东 跑到finch
subway station.
共跑了46.6 公里， 爬升了678米，下降了692米，共用时间5小时19分， 平均速度8.74
公里/小时。

After the fabulous hikes in Kauai, i felt like i cannot stop hiking. back
at OK, i complained to a friend i made in Kauai that i had nothing to do
here over weekends, no mountains to hike, no decent trails that i could go
on and hike for hours without intersecting to a train track or cement road.

1. Italian Beef. It's a Chicago thing where they take roast beef, put it in
a sandwich, top it with peppers, and dip it in beef juice. It's seriously
good. Al's has a great version, so does Mr. Beef on New Orleans.( I got a
italian beef with sausage in the sandwich there, so meaty so good)
The proper way to order italian beef is say you want it dipped(like

镇上有家Potbelly,第一次去的时候是别人带了去的，据说是朋友最喜欢吃的sandwich，
尝了一下，果然不错，后来便是自己一个人去吃了。他们家做的sandwich面包很软很薄
很暖和，生菜色拉很新鲜，酸辣椒有点辣，肉的味道也很不错，Turkey,Tunar,Italian,
bacon,chicken salad都是我特爱吃的种类，而且他们做出来的sandwich也很好看，没
有普通的sandwich带给我的面包夹肉的感觉。他们家的环境也不错，周末的时候会有一
些业余的人来演奏，每次遇上我都会多坐一会，享受一番。但更特别的是他们家的伙计，
对我很友好。
在过去的几个月里，我去过好多次这家Potbelly,一直很想遇到其中的一个伙计，他对我
特别的友好，曾经很热心的让我品尝cheese,曾经给了我一朵用黄瓜做的花，曾经赞扬过
我的笑容，我一直很想说声谢谢，却再也没有遇见她，以为他换工作了，不想，今天，一
个普通的下午，却恰好遇到了。打招呼时才意识到自己今天心情很一般，没有怎么灿烂的

所以你可以叫hamburger, beef patty sandwich

的面试(不是很多版友说的很有经验的老手). 我觉得我面试准备的比较充分(即便是这

我和系里基本上谈好了条件,现在只等学院的正式offer下来,签字,这件事情就算结束了.接下来就要和很多版友一样,为了Tenure, funding等拼搏了. 继续求大家的祝福.
下面我来讲讲我的面试经历和经验教训吧.
我的面试总共进行了2天. 主要是见了几个行政人员, 系主任, 给了两个报告(一个
teaching,一个research), 和委员会集体聊天. 晚饭和午饭都是委员会的老师跟着. 因
为他们安排了两天的面试,所以我还是有足够的时间休息. 我就没有觉得很累.
和版上的很多大侠说的一样,和行政人员聊天的确是他们聊得多一下. 碰到一个好学型

The grilled one tastes better, you can just use a pan to grill the sandwich

基本上以sandwich, panini, soup，salad这类美国快餐为主。量很大，尤其是turkey
club sandwich，里面夹得很厚实，带一大堆fries或者chips，我反正是吃不完。。。
味道还不错，其实turkey club sandwich很难做得难吃。。。
价格在7刀以内，看在量很大的份上还不算overpriced。
这个地方生意很不好，如果不是每个月我在这儿有meeting我也不会去吃。。。
麻痹我关于吃的报告到此结束了，肚子时间金钱有限，还有很多地方没吃过。
