Andrew Taylor Still医生创建于1874年。当时Still医生因为不满意19世纪西医的治疗
能力，而采用部分整体论的哲学理论，他认为人体是一个整体而各个部分是相互关联的
。和其它的整体论不一样的是，他认为人体的骨骼肌肉是健康的关键，（起名叫“骨病
医学”。）并强调另外四个内容：身体自愈能力，预防疾病，饮食，保持健康。随着西
医的进步，不知从那一年开始美国“骨病医学”的学校已经全部改学西医。现在他们和
西医一样获得医生执照，但是他们头衔是DO (doctor of osteopathy)不是MD (medical
doctor)。美国骨病医学的医生DO和西医的医生MD比较：都是医学院4年，基础课程完
全一样，而临床课程骨病医学多了骨骼肌肉的“推拿”，也叫“手法治疗”。住院医生
制完全一样。考试完全一样，医生执照完全一样。不同之处还有骨病医学院毕业的医生
大多适合做家庭医生工作。因为他们强调整体性和预防性，关怀病人的方方面面。不过
美国人私下里说考不上 MD的人去考DO医学 |

8 years - 本、博: Bachelor/Ph.D. degree, equivalent to U.S. M.D./Ph.D.
degree.
However, some people may work as a postdoc in a lab with the Chinese bachelor degree in medicine. |
