There are two batteries found in a Prius. The first is a lead-acid (Pb-A)
12v accessory battery which is commonly found in most vehicles on the road.
The second is the main hybrid driving battery, which is specific to hybrid
electric vehicles (HEV) and electric vehicles (EV).
So far as I know, all prius hybrid battery are made in Japan by this company
. (all their factories are in Japan too, not China)

battery technology is on an accelerated path as long as the industry sees
profit in return. Lithium ion is not the only option. Li-air, Li-sulphur,
