I've checked that paper. Based on my understanding, the paper said ATP
stimulation can temporarily inhibit respiration and reduce mitochondrial
membrane potential, so inhibit mitochondrial Ca2+ uptake. After temporary
inhibition of Ca2+ uptake, ATP is consumed and mitochondrial respiration
resumed and cause mitochondrial Ca2+ boost. And the boost after ATP
stimulation can reflect the ability of cellular respiration.
But this still doesn't solve my problem, which needs to increase cytoplasmic

The reason that rapamycin inhibits mTorc2 is that long-term treatment with
rapamycin, overnight for example (concentration doesn't matter), inhibits
mTorc2 complex assembly, but rather inhibits its kinase activity directly.

今天查文献，关键词搜索" survival，retinal neurons". 有一篇文章让我很迷惑。仔
细一看名字和地址，莫非是气功大师的杰作。求鉴定。如果真是，那严大师应该是所有
这些大师，教主里头科研素质最高的了。放在国内都可以PHD毕业了。甚至秒杀大部分

1) How to define "TCA is inhibited":
Sometimes it is not totally inhibited in that whole TCA Cycle. It has
another name: Truncated TCA cycle.
2) as xhzhou said: the intermediate products in glycolysis can enter into
other pathways---"whatever pathways"---synthesized into "macromolecules".
The "whatever pathways" & "macromolecules" are hot filed, which is more
complex than the textbook. Many of them are not discovered yet and may be

举例来说，在drug metabolism中，所谓mechanism-based inhibition (or, suicide
inhibition)就是因为reactive metabolite 和P450 enzyme 形成covalent bond，使
P450失活。而且也有kinetic equation描述这种inhibition.
所以我觉得下面这段话说得不确切啊。这个statement是最近的文献上引的？还是很早
以前的书上的话？

年才全职回去多了12年。比起培养的中国学生也多多了，算国内贡献肯定不会小。如果
他一直留在国外，成就未必就比饶差。谁把饶益的文章列一列。国内多少篇，总共多少
篇，培养了多少中国学生？

老板自称是做translational bioinformatics的，
其phd也算是正宗machine learning出身的，
但是研究思路上真是不敢恭维，
做完一个database，上线，发个小文章，
再继续做另外一个生物信息database,做个网站，上线，发个文章；
已经拿这种思路申请了两次R01了，结果都没中（中了才怪呢！）
这种研究思路就是打浆糊，除了catalog别人的发现，毫无创新；
最近还要搞drug repurposing,
也是利用前人发的paper，做text mining, 在link到某些drug，
看看能不能把同一类的drug combine起来inhibit一个circuit，
做inhibition modeling,
这种研究思路非常危险，第一，你是假设以前的paper都是正确的；

最近做功课研究消除疼痛的办法，看到下面这边文章。大意似乎是：
1）炎症是身体对抗伤痛的自然反应，是身体自我修复过程的正常症状；
2）药物消除炎症，同时也抑制了身体的自我修复过程，反而不利于伤痛的恢复；
3）消炎药不能明显提高比赛成绩。
根据这篇文章的说法，我觉得ibuprofen或Advil最大的效果可能是止痛（类似麻醉剂，
消除或削弱大脑对疼痛的感受）。疼痛要求人不要过度使用身体；大脑不觉得疼了，就
会继续正常（其实是超量）使用身体。后果可能是短时间内保持了成绩，但加速了肌肉
撕裂，伤病加重。
我英语不太好，英语好的可以再总结一下。

I wouldn't use it. Halts has the active ingredient of Pendimethalin and is
marketed as a Crabgrass pre-emergent preventer. It will also prevent grass
seeds from germination so if you use it when planting grass from seeds, you
won't get any grass!
You may argue that sods are grass that have already germinated, so it wouldn
't be that bad. However, Pendimethalin (as well as many other pre-emergent
herbicides) also has early post-emergent function and it may inhibit
