本来真是心有余悸，现在好像感觉好一些了，呵呵
我忽然在想，是不是像stanford, Brigham Young Womens Hospital等等比较top的
hospital, 大多数都是学校的teaching hospital, 所以应该说医生的水平是很高的，
但是对于一般病人的照顾就不及其他医院那么nice了？估计医生比较care疑难杂症这种
类型的病例... |

考虑是不是要换ob，转到Good Samaritan Hospital生
有没有jm知道湾区的这两个医院哪个会更好一些啊如果不比较ob的话？例如剖腹住几天
？护士怎么样？生产花费差别大吗？有保险的情况下。吃的还行么？爸爸有没有简易的
床或可躺的凳子休息？妈妈刚开始没奶的时候能给BB formula吗？

我现在住在康州但是工作在纽约，找医生的时候图方便找了一个上班近的，才开始看医
生，医院定在nyu hospital， 不堵车50分钟，查了一下Mount Sinai好像也差不多距离
，发现在纽约换医生很麻烦，大家提到的那个tang医生好像很忙啊，最快也要等一个月
，下一次visit也只能用现在约的那个医生了，但是可以考虑在注册医院前可以换医生
和医院，朋友建议在康州找个近的，刚知道查us news 排名，可是康州的最好的在new
heaven也是离家50分钟那我觉得划不来还不如城里我上班看医生方便，greenwich
hospital 或者stamford hospital离家最近，但是us news也没有排名，不知道好不好
，查了一下NICU level 一个IIIA 一个IIIB,但是nyu那个说是全国最好的，请问有谁有
过那两个医院的经验吗？请问大家选择医院和医生的时候都是怎么选择的啊？我现在决
定先选医院然后再选医生，医院还是在犹豫，医生就更不知道哪个好了，请给点建议，
第一胎，一头雾水，不知道哪里去找知识，谢谢！ |

的保险就够了。
不过你说的excess fee是啥？我看到bupa保险里有一个excess option，不知道是不是
你说的这个，我实在不懂啊，网页上说
"An excess is a set amount you agree to pay upfront before your benefit is
paid for overnight or same-day admissions at any hospital."
bupa公司的人告诉我这是upfront fee，可我还是不懂什么叫upfront fee啊。。选保险
的时候到底应不应该选择有excess option的呢？ |

My wife got a single room, and there is a sofa bed for me. The hospital has
wifi, so I can do all my company's HR forms online to add my son.
As the 1st answer said, nice environment, nice nurse and workers. The doctor
is yours, not the hospitals... Cannot compliant anything except its a bit
far for my home. |

at, some attendings are employed by the university, and they have
obligation to train students and residents. Most of them are clinical
physicians and they have much less research going on, comparing with those
in the university medical centers. I'd say these hospitals are more like
community hospitals. |

university-based hospital的，甚至还要好。只要你自己肯学，每天多花点时间，日
积月累，肯定会有回报的。我当时面试的一个大学医院PD说：没有不好的program,只有
不好的resident。
差别可能在于科研的机会，以及申请部分fellowship的机会。如果你雄心壮志的一定要
进cardiology,GI的，那最好就是去本身有这些fellowship的resident program，那成
功几率会大一点，否则很难。 |

说来有趣，这两家医院我都不是第一次去了，2007，08两年我以其他兼差的机会来过这
两家医院参观，当时不仅转了几个临床科室(病理倒只是看了CP的化验室)，还听到了医
院的管理者对医院的介绍，当时就留下了很好的印象。特别是North shore-Long
island jewish hospital，这次面试已经是我第四次去了，感觉还蛮亲切的。
North shore-Long island jewish医疗集团一共包括十多家医院，服务的范围以纽约的
长岛，皇后区和staten island为主。其中以北岸大学医院和长岛犹太医院规模最大。
刚刚问了实验室一个phd学生对于这两个医院的评价，因为他们家从他的爷爷辈儿就生
活在纽约，现在父母家住在长岛，他先反问我，是personal opinion吗？我说是，他就
说他的评价非常高，这是一家值得让人信赖的医院，然后例举了家里老老少少就医的经

桌子，MANAGER就坐在桌子后面面试人，等着面试的护士都排成了长长的队伍。其中MED
-SURG招人最多，大概招10多个，然后面试的人太多，是在另外一个单独的房间，放了
五排椅子，一排大概十多个椅子。等着面试的RN坐满了。然后其他的什么ER， OB，ICU
，TELEMETRY，SURGERY招的人没有那么多，但是每个桌子前至少也有二三十个护士在等
着。我看了这架势都被吓住了。BEVERLY HOSPITAL的HR的人给我说他们还是有意识尽量
控制了人数的，就这样都来了超过3，400个护士，如果不控制人数，起码要来六百多个
。因为我去的晚，我去的时间段都已经是人少的时候了。如果这样，我一下子觉得现在
护士找工作也堪忧啊。我看旁边一个韩国护士，是从ORANGE COUNTY过来的，电话号码
区号都是714，1992年就毕业了，她想申请MED-SURG和OB。我心里想都快20年工作经验

doesn't mean they're stable enough to be transferred, that they should be

hospital.他们提供比一般rehab和nursing home高一级的医疗服务，但是不是acute
care hospital. They take care mechanical ventilation dependent patients, or
so called ICU patients or at some places, they are called acute rehab.
We have capacity for 24 intensive care patients and provide
in-house physician coverage 24 hours per day, seven days per week. 真正的医
院不用这样说明，这样说明是为了区别rehab和nursing home.
把握住病人和护士ratio就对了，一对二就好，否则就看那个对你更重要了， license

order; RN needs to send the order to hospital pharmacy; pharmacist needs to
verify the order to see if there are contraindications, allergy issue, drug
interactions and will notify MD if changing medication is necessary. If the
