楊子珊主演、講述一名賭徒與妓女在泰國曼谷經歷的一夜浪漫與迷情故事的電影「天亮
之前」，22日舉行全球首映。紐約觀眾也可第一時間在位於時報廣場的AMC Empire 25
電影院欣賞到這部演員陣容強大，劇情高潮疊起的全新類型華語電影。
「天亮之前」講述的是由郭富城飾演的亡命賭徒高野，輸光繼承的千萬家產後，與由楊

@PDX 下车就看到了Amtrak著名的Cascade Train，仔细一看才发现，此车构造特殊，每
两节车厢公用一轴…股道的另一端停着我下一段的列车，更诧异的发现，仅有4节车厢
而由两个车头拉着…… 还是由于忘记带长袖，考虑到了冰川公园会被冻伤，于是再次
在车站找了商店，好在这次没让我失望，还是Empire Builder主题的，价格嘛当然贵最
关键的是，最小号是LARGE, 我穿起来，头顿时就小了很多……（好吧，我也知道了要
头显小，要穿肩膀宽的衣服……） 卧铺乘客在波特兰车站可以进metropolitan lounge
，里面没啥吃的东西，但饮料不少，关键是有WIFI……几乎两天没上网的我，在这里好
好过了一把网瘾……
Empire Builder，PDX-WGL，Bedroom, 由于机械故障，登车晚了约半个小时，找到铺位
之后，照例列车员过来介绍。列车晚点30分钟开出，因为卧铺在列尾，于是看了久违的
列尾视角。车厢里面还有一位台湾大叔，全家都是PHD，很能聊，不知不觉就到了饭点

7次Empire Builder（芝加哥-西雅图） 准点率74.2%
27次Empire Builder（芝加哥-波特兰） 准点率80%（只算从Spokane到波特兰这段）
5次California Zephyr（芝加哥-Emeryville） 准点率77.4%
3次Southwest Chief（芝加哥-洛杉矶） 准点率90.3%
1次Sunset Limited（新奥尔良-洛杉矶） 准点率71.4%
421次Texas Eagle（芝加哥-洛杉矶）从圣安东尼奥开始是加挂在Sunset Limited后面
的，所以准点率同上
Southwest Chief准点率最高，全程早点，很少见晚点的情况；
Empire Builder受气候影响较大，flood、snow storm比较多，晚点多是由天气原因造
成的；
California Zephyr和Sunset Limited的晚点主要是由Union Pacific的货车优先原则造
成的。

取过景，所以影迷多，价格贵，队伍长。如果对美国电影文化不了解，纯从风景上来说
，Top of the Rock好些，因为可以看到Empire State Building。相比之下The Rock建
筑本身不是很有特点。 现在纽约有了新高峰One World Observatory你也可以考虑。
带娃应该去American Museum of Natural History。

第一天”明显是两天，从开始工作到天黑，一共是20个小时。估计是第一天夜里没加班
，和第二天早上连一起了。而且可以注意里面基本上一个昼夜交替是20小时，说明一天
还休息了4个小时。视频里也没说是连续工作或者六天建成。所以全部时间应该是7天到
8天。工作时间是136.5小时。但是能这样建起来还是很令人惊讶的。远大公司还在世博
会上面花了24小时建造了一栋展示楼，那个有24小时连续视频。
下面是Youtube上外国人的部分评价。里面当然有一些是嘲笑中国产品质量低下的。但
是更多的是惊讶。搞笑评论也很多。欧美发达国家因为建筑项目少，所以市场养不起太
多的建筑工人，所以建筑的时候花费时间总是特别长。很多欧美居民对此非常不满。所
以建筑速度虽然值得自豪，却也并不是说我们比欧美强很多。这一点要客观看待。但终
归来说，中国人现在吃苦耐劳的本色仍然非常强大。
外国人的自嘲看看就好，每个国家的人都看自己国家不顺眼。哈哈。

的感受。
我第一次看的时候，估计也就跟我孩子们差不多大的时候，那个时候就光注意动作打斗
，太空船和激光枪了，对于人物，历史还有world building是没有怎么上心的。
之后几十年，断断续续的又看过几遍，每次都有一些不同的领会，随着时间和阅历的变
化，对于这个系列也逐渐有了不同的体会。一开始的时候，对于Jedi和resistance非常
崇拜，对于Sith和empire恨之入骨，但是，随着对于这个星战universe的进一步了解，
对于银河共和国，Jedi和Sith的进一步了解以后，对于好人坏人的评价逐渐就没有那么
黑白分明了。
后来，看了一些评论，注意到了卢卡斯的这个星战系列跟瓦格纳的《尼泊龙根指环》（
Ring Cycle）系列的一些类似之处。在这里再提一下。
以前，倒是有很多人类比LOTR和Ring Cycle，毕竟这两者之间的相似程度很高，很自然
地就容易把LOTR看成通俗版地Ring Cycle，对于星战和Ring Cycle地相似程度倒是很少

这个酒店，事先的设计、打地基、预制件生产肯定不止6天。贴视频也是个标题党，“
第一天”明显是两天，从开始工作到天黑，一共是20个小时。估计是第一天夜里没加班
，和第二天早上连一起了。而且可以注意里面基本上一个昼夜交替是20小时，说明一天
还休息了4个小时。视频里也没说是连续工作或者六天建成。所以全部时间应该是7天到
8天。工作时间是136.5小时。但是能这样建起来还是很令人惊讶的。远大公司还在世博
会上面花了24小时建造了一栋展示楼，那个有24小时连续视频。

theoretical的分别。前者主要是现实生活中的数据，后者主要是模型（我说的可能不
严格，有内行的可以补充）。对于别的领域，基本上empirical是主导，当然了最近也
有一些领域开始做simulation，有点像theoretical的东西。
empirical里面又有很多种方法去收集，分析和解释数据。常见的是定性qualitative和

empirical econ has its basis (that human behaviors are hard to model in a
comprehensive manner, and the best model of human behaviors are humans
themselves).
But I also agree with you that there are severe limitations for
applications of empirical econ, due to the same reason that makes empirical

我们的那个seminar是这样的：每节课三个小时，两个同学上去讲两篇paper，第一篇是theory，第二篇是相关的empirical，大家可以问问题，一起讨论。
因为那些都是经典paper，相关的empirical我感觉都被做得差不多，我暂时想不到什么新的idea。如果只是对某篇empirical的改进，譬如加几个correlated omitted variable，可不可以？
或者我不从课程的paper出发，额外去找一些最新的牛人的working paper来看，看有没有可以改进的？ |

时间忙着做empirical test。marketing要做，问题是现在搞基础理论的太少了，能看
懂的人很少。和几个牛教授讨论过，不过他们似乎也是混子，倾向于无分析直接接受前
人的东西，都不屑仔细看。典型的说法是，我提出质疑的时候他们说你照做就好了，问
那么多做什么。呵呵。不过我觉得他们也对，如果没有吓人的empirical proof,怎么能
醒目呢。:)
这里发帖的最初目的是看各位高材生有没有合适的牛人推荐下给我看看paper的，不过
so far, no useful suggestions, 大家都更愿意进行讽刺挖苦，以显示自己其实比我
牛很多，呵呵。各位，你们的才华就只能做这个吗？能不能干点正事?
另外理论的一个引申是关于Keynes,我的微观理论通过引申推出Keynes毫无疑问是被证伪了，但是我提不出新的宏观理论模型，基本上我的结论是生产过剩是无法解决的，宏观经济学不存在，所以这部分工作还在进行中。

Step3考场壮烈回来。第一天挺累人，最后一个block甚至做到有心无力状，看着题反应

UW 41 offline cases: 我当时和partner每个case仔细做一遍，虽然不像online有反馈
，但对练临床思维，补充protocol非常有帮助。最后考试与41 case有异曲同工之处，
遇到复杂case也不慌神。
