众所周知，美国黑人较多，我们在称呼黑人的时候尽量选择合适的词，比如“
Black”，黑人对于这个称呼一般会坦然接受的。但是Negro指的是从非洲贩卖到美国为
奴隶的黑人，如果使用这样的称呼，会让黑人觉得你在蔑视他。无论是和黑人还是和白
人交谈，都不要伤及黑人的自尊。
2.聪明选择交谈话题
留学美国，不免要参加各种各样的聚会，那么如何在聚会上受到众人的欢迎呢？这
就涉及到选择什么样的话题和别人交流。有的学生只谈论自己拿手的话题，夸夸其谈，
只顾自嗨，完全不顾及别人的感受。
这样的做法必然会引起大家的反感。如果只谈论本专业学术的问题，也会让大家觉
得你完全是个书呆子，除了本专业的知识，其他一窍不通。所以，在这种社交场合，聊
天时尽量选择大家比较感兴趣的话题，每个人都会有发言的机会，这样既可以体现个人
Easygoing的特点，也有益于交到更多的朋友。
3.注意口气清新

合科研工作, 特别是跟马有关的科研工作. (最后这句属清蒸mp)

冒泡问个问题好了，难不成怎么办呢……
周五去一家四大二面，和一个partner和两个director谈话，都年轻健谈nice。有一个
host，是个新进去的senior associate，是个白人、不很讲究的大妈。
说说面试，第一个面partner，没准备好吧，可能，很简单的问题问了两个，我答得臭
而长，人家就开始问你有什么问题，他能说，最后都说到我之前的文科专业了，聊了大
半时间那个话题。最开始他说过今天他要见很多很多人，所以我们的谈话很短，但是不
可能短到两个问题吧，感觉很崩溃。不相关的文科话题，我觉得不能加分，我和他不算
建立了connection吧。因为最后他跟我说了“good luck”，让我很难过。
后面两个director都聊得很好，一个比一个聊得好，最后一个是时间到了都聊不完，我看见后两个在我的简历上不时记录很多小字，一行一行的。
去了一家超豪华的餐厅用餐，我没有吃完，也没有点甜点，就注意刀叉怎么摆了。然后
主要是听，三个staff聊得很多，偶尔和我的host聊一下相关问题和旅游什么的。我当

The case study didn't goes very well and actually a lot different to my
original scripts. The biggest surprise is the client withdraw from the case.
.....
Anyway, as I promised, I still need to complete this case.
Below is the complete case study for this client. No matter what's your
opinion on this, I have to say I'm not satisfied at all. I will definitely
rank the whole work as one the worst project in my entire career.

well I meant easygoing or nice...however the way he looks and talks, is so
anti-arousing behavior:)))...he never appears waken up to me, he never opens
his eyes anyway:))...his talk is so plain...I was amazed when he came here,
his slides were so colorful...All his previous talks I listened were data
rich/exciting but slide was so pale...talk was so dry/boring:))) and he

listed, one is for sure among outstanding PhDs...regardless whatever on the
paper records...For many, It is less about a training for science but more
for life...I strongly believe that it is short-sighted or too practical to
say that to have such a PhD training is waste of time unless one only cares

<以前给朋友写的一些个人想法，很罗唆，仅供参考>
补充:resume重点在于突出自己的能力，比如summary/qualification中如果你写a fast
learner，easygoing之类的，也可以，但是这个大家都可以写，如果你写an
experienced statistician with industrial experience，这个就较突出了。
因此要写得meaningful。
少说一些套话，多注意和job requirement上的关键字match。
写完找一些朋友（外行内行都可以）看看，问问他们有什么反应（first impression）。
